My Summer In Racing - Kim Bruder
For virtually my entire life I have spent every summer at the race track. This summer past was no exception. I traveled across the U.S. and Canada with ASA Late Model Champion Jesse Smith.
While my roll at the track was minimal, I gained valuable information regarding set up and numerous aspects of the car. After each run I was in charge of getting tire temperatures. With tires being crucial to the handling and performance of the car this was very important. During a 10 minute break halfway through the race I fueled the car up and put the car on jack stands. Back at the shop I helped out with body work and various other tasks.
Second to learning more about set up was the connections that I was able to make with various teams. The contacts I have made have allowed me to get several viewpoints on different aspects of the cars. Overall, I would say that this summer was a great learning experience.
