Mangaaaaaaaaa!

Mangaaaaaaaaa!

Postby Jingle Scott » Sun Oct 11, 2009 10:50 pm

Thought I'd open up some discussion here in the manga sub-forum. As fans of anime, I can safely assume that there are also fans of manga here amongst us. So this question shouldn't be too out of place.

What are you reading right now? Would you recomend others to read it? It can be manga/manhwa/mahua, honestly if you're wrapped up in the latest story arc of Superman or The Avengers, just put it out there. We're not going to judge.

To start off, I'm currently marathoning the works of Mitsuru Adachi. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mitsuru_Adachi Probably not a name familiar to alot of people. He is the creator of several popular series including Touch (being shown in PAC Classic) and Cross Game (being shown in 27+).

I'm also reading Maison Ikkoku by Rumiko Takahashi (of Ramna 1/2 and Inuyasha fame). A great romantic comedy that I'd suggest anyone toread.

The final series I'm going to list is Nodame Cantabile. Yes, I am reading it, and Yes, I know that there is no music involved but I started reading just before it became an anime. It's great fun to read.

Now hopefully I won't be the only one to put myself out there by doing this, so go on. What are you reading right now?

Just recently read Osamu Tezuka's MW, but haven't started reading the Adachi stuff that Ian gave me just yet.

Otherwise, I've been reading xxxHolic whenever new volumes come out.

Current manga reading list:
Beelzebub
Bleach
Kongou Banchou
The World God Only Knows
Claymore
Detroit Metal City
Blue Dragon
One Piece
and JOJO'S BIZARRE ADVENTURE!!!!!!!!!

I also read good old American comic books. I have about six full long boxes and currently filling up my seventh (stacking them can provide you with a very serviceable desk, just so you know), and a bookshelf full of all my trades. So instead putting down my entire pull list, here is a link to it: http://heavyink.com/user/3512/subscriptions

Since then I've only been reading the Umineko no Naku Koro ni manga.
Sure, I played the game. But the manga is so much better than the anime.

Not that hard since the anime ended in a complete cliffhanger, and the explanations it provided were bullshit.

Well, the cliffhanger and explanations were probably a fault with the fact that the game ended the same way.
I'm more commenting on the fact that DEEN failed at proper pacing for the show, and made an overall bad adaptation.
