Episode 1
Spoiler: show
Welcome to Baka To Test to Shokanju! We start out being introduced to where most of the action takes place Fumizuki Academy. They are the first school to implement a virtual reality battling system where students summon a familiar to fight for them. The second part of this is that the school is divided up into classes A-F based on academic ability. We are introduced to two of our main characters, Yoshii and Himeji, more on them later. It seems that she is sick and they are taking the placement exam for this high school. Himeji is sick and needs to go to the nurses office but leaving the room will give her a zero! We do not know what happens since we fade out and back in to Yoshii being late to school. We are introduced to Nishimura sensei who goes by the nickname Ironman. Ironman gives Yoshii his placement exam results, it seems he is placed in class F, seeing as he is a “super idiot”. Yoshii Akihisa, his name in full, walks down to his classroom to see it’s in dire need for repair. It seems the classrooms are reflected in their grades. We now get introduced to Yoshii’s best friends Yuuji Sakamoto and Minami Shimada, who appear to also be there as well. It might as well be said now, but Minami takes rather large offences to jokes made about her breast size, which happen a lot, and mostly said by Akihisa. She punches through in a video game style ending move as we see another of our main characters, Kouta Tsychiya, commonly called Voyeur, attempt to get a panty shot. Now Hideyoshi Kinoshita joins the ranks of main characters. Jesus how many people are there? Also, everyone believes Hideyoshi to be a girl, even though he is a guy. Apparently he is rather good looking. Our final F Class main character appears. Her name: Mizuki Himeji. Yuuji and Yoshii plan to start an ESB (Exam Summoning Battle) to try to get Himeji some better items since the poor condition of the class doesn’t suit her and the fact that Yoshii likes her. We get the explanation of what an ESB. In an ESB two of the classes fight with their grades as their power levels and the winning class can trade places with the loser. Yuuji, a brilliant tactical mastermind, not kidding here people, says they can win because Akihisa is a legendary Punishment Inspector, which is just a super idiot. Anyway this is going on rather long, so I will try to condense it. They declare war on class E, and they battle. It’s kinda like Pokémon. Oh and if you lose in a battle, you are taken to take supplementary lessons with Ironman. In order to end a battle you must be the class rep. Himeji takes a supplementary exam comes back and wins it for them singlehandedly. Hideyoshi’s twin sister from class A comes in and our episode ends with class A declaring war on class F. Next time, a smaller synopsis!

Episode 2
Spoiler: show
We start this episode with a flashback of two kids learning a date in Japanese history. Wonder how this fits into today’s episode? We get back with our main characters as they head to class A to have a talk. Yuuji puts forth the idea that they have a one on one battle between class reps. Class A puts forth the idea that the battle becomes a 5 vs 5 and Yuuji accepts, as long as class F gets to pick the subjects. The loser must do one thing the winner asks. They talk on the roof as Minami is jumped by Miharu Shimizu, who is in love with her. This is another running gag so I am mentioning it here and only again in an important spot. Akihisa is then attacked by Minami, being she is highly Tsundere, and in love with Akihisa. Now it’s time for the battle! Minami is up first and looses in Math. Akihisa is up next and losses. Voyeur is up next and wins in Health. Himeji is next and wins in a comprehensive battle. Yuuji is finally up. He chooses an elementary school level test with 100 points total. It seems he has a plan. He chooses a portion of Japanese History that as a child he and the class A rep were friends and she memorized it wrong. He is banking on her to get just that one wrong and lose. The flashback at the start of the episode showed him giving the girl the wrong date! With luck the question is there however Yuuji is such an idiot he got only half correct while the class A rep did just miss that one. In turn our episode ends with class F trading their wooden table desks for orange boxes. It’s a giant facepalm moment people. Oh well, next week more antics! Oh and it seems that the class A rep is in love with Yuuji and for winning she has Yuuji go out on a date with her. Our episode really ends here with Himeji and Minami fighting over Akihisa and who he is going to go out with.

Episode 3
Spoiler: show
Our episode starts out at the movie theater. Akihisa, Himeji, and Minami are there deciding on what movie to watch when they see the class A rep, Shouko with Yuuji in shackles. Their “relationship” is another running gag, with her wanting to be with him, and him not really wanting to do so. After the op we see that Akihisa lives alone, his family traveling overseas and his sister studying abroad. Back at school we see Himeji trying to sneak a love letter into Akihisa’s locker but he interrupts her and he talks with Yuuji about his movie experience, which wasn’t good. Oh and it turns out Ironman is now their homeroom teacher because their grades suck. We learn in small talk that once you lose an ESB you cannot start one for 3 months. Akihisa, Himeji, and Minami head out and we have a scene similar to the opening. They head out for crepes and it attacked by Miharu, she drives the plot along. They run into Hideyoshi who has maid outfits for some reason. Oh, by the way, men cross dressing is another running gag. Miharu finds them and they run back to school so they can have a trial ESB. Miharu takes out Minami and Himeji takes out Miharu and they win, however the real winner is Miharu who gets weekend supplementary lessons with Minami. Akihisa and Himeji head to the roof to talk about the love letter she has, which Akihisa thinks she has written for Yuuji. We all know it’s meant for him, so she downplays it saying she will send it one day. Our episode ends with Akihisa opening his shoe box and getting a random love letter. It turns out it’s from a man, who has fallen in love with him while he was cross dressing. It’s from a male character in class A but his plot comes up later. Next episode more summoned beings!

Episode 4
Spoiler: show
Episode 4
We start out this episode with more information about Yoshii being the Punishment Bearer. His summon has great strength and is corporeal so the teachers use him, mostly Ironman, to do chores around the school and if not mentioned before, Akihisa feels the pain his summon feels. Its Sunday but class F is here taking extra lessons but its lunch time. Akihisa has 1/64th a cup of ramen when they break into physical comedy and Minami’s little sister, Hazuki, comes in claiming she is going to marry Akihisa as many small Japanese girls in anime do this. However in another running gag the male populations of F class are wearing black robes and put him through court for going out with a girl. It seems that Hazuki is here to bring Minami the lunches she left at home. On another note it seems Himeji made a lunch for Akihisa as well as once again the men of class F grab him. After the bump Himeji and Akihisa are up on the roof as he is prepared to eat the lunch she made for him. However Yuuji, Hideyoshi and Voyeur appear and take bites. After 3 second though, they all fall over dead. It seems that Himeji’s cooking is so horrible it kills. Himeji appears with drinks, and Akihisa tries to get out of eating it, however Yuuji comes back to life for a minute and gives him some advice to try to save his life. Akihisa eats the remainder of the bento and follows his friends into death. (Note: it’s not really death people, just really bad cooking) While walking back to class, Akihisa runs into Hazuki and says he should have had Minami’s lunch and it just so happens she is next to him, but Miharu is there and that plot dies. Minami ditches her “lover” and tries to find Akihisa and finally does outside in a garden area. It seems Akihisa has been giving Hazuki a piggy back ride around the school. She tries to give him his lunch when Kubo appears, who has BL for Akihisa and takes him out for lunch. They go to the lunch room where another teacher has Akihisa use his summon but he trips and ends up losing all his points and had to take extra lessons. At the end of the day Minami goes to throw away her half eaten lunch when Akihisa runs up and asks her for it. Our episode ends on a smile from Minami as she calls him an idiot. Next episode more!

Episode 5
Spoiler: show
We start out this episode with the principle looking at prizes for an upcoming school wide orienteering contest. We cut back to Akihisa on his way to school, he finds a cell phone strap lost by a certain Hazuki. She notices it’s in the street but the traffic starts again before Akihisa can go grab it. However Fukuhara sensei appears and grants him a summoning field, which I thought could only be done at school. Akihisa uses his summon but it is run over by the principle. Back in the present we learn that the prizes for the contest are great items as well as a new strap for Hazuki since it was destroyed earlier. They are split up into teams: Yuuji, Akihisa, Hideyoshi and Himeji, Minami, and Voyeur are our teams. They solve a few problems and begin searching for prize tickets. In their search Akihisa finds more food made by Himeji but there is only 3. They decide who eats it by playing rock paper scissors. It seems Yuuji, Akihisa, and Voyeur end up eating and dying. We get a small cut to Kubo who has found one in Akihisa’s shoe box and we get a worthless scene. Back with our male trio they find the prize ticket that Shouko wants, a couple’s wedding for her and Yuuji at a theme park. They just decide to search the entire school floor by floor, but end up with nothing. On a whim they search the roof but they are attacked by a trio of A class girls: Hideyoshi’s sister, Shouko, and the female Voyeur, Aiko Kudou. They start to have a battle, but are beaten by the school bell, which means the end of the contest. Back in the F classroom they look over the prizes they won, which include the phone straps he wanted as well as 3 odd Iron Bracelets. It seems the bracelets allow the wearer to create a summoning field to summon their summon beings, but 2 of them explode, leaving Akihisa with the only one. Our episode ends with an extremely happy Hazuki who has 3 new phone straps.

Episode 6
Spoiler: show
It’s summer! However there is no baseball here, which makes me sad. After a few fanservice shots we cut to Akihisa and Yuuji at Akihisa’s apartment. They fight over lunch and both get covered in cola. They end up fighting more and get covered in instant ramen. This is shown because they sneak into the school pool to use the showers and are caught by Ironman. Their punishment is pool cleaning; however everyone turns it basically into a pool party. Everyone, including Hazuki and Shouko appear to play and help clean. We get major fanservice and most of it is from Himeji who can barely keep her top on and we get a great gag from Minami, who is actually German, starts speaking German because she is out of it. Hideyoshi appears and everyone again mistakes him for a girl, especially since he ends up wearing a 2 piece bathing suit. They play a few games, Shouko turns even more Yandere, Aiko and Mizuki appears. They take a break for lunch, which Himeji cooked, so we have another survival competition! It’s a swimming contest. Hideyoshi wins, I think, and they go to a public bath. We get more fanservice of women and Hideyoshi. Akihisa uses iron bracelet to summon his being, but the women do as well and he loses his points. Just then, Ironman jumps out of the water and carries Akihisa to extra lessons! Next episode less fanservice!

Episode 7
Spoiler: show
Our episode this time, I mean Yuuji, is woken up by Shouko who appears to have broken into his apartment. It seems Shouko is there to take Yuuji to the theme park with a ticket that Akihisa got from the previous contest episode. They head to the park and see that Hideyoshi and Akihisa are there to make sure Yuuji goes through with the wedding plan. Oh, Voyeur is there as well. Yuuji and Shouko walk around the park until they run into Phi the fox mascot which is actually Himeji in disguise. She tells them to go to the haunted house, which Yuuji promptly declines going to. Noin appears which Akihisa is in disguise. However to get rid of them, Yuuji says Akihisa is on a date with a college chick, and since Himeji is also Yandere but for Akihisa, Himeji calls Minami over and this distracts them. However Yuuji still ends up at the haunted house. Yuuji escapes the haunted house and they head to lunch. While at lunch they end up being tricked into a prize contest and if they get all 5 correct they get to be in a mock wedding. Yuuji tries to fail, but everyone works against him. They put them in wedding clothes, which Shouko looks pretty good in her dress. Shouko tells us it’s her dream to marry Yuuji and they are heckled by stereotypes in the crowd, and Shouko runs away due to being really embarrassed. On her way home, Shouko runs into Yuuji, and he tells her that her feelings for him are misplaced, but he will not laugh at her dream. He places the veil back on her head and Shouko looks at him and tells him she doesn’t think her feelings are misplaced with a giant smile on her face. Our episode ends on yet another happy note. Next episode will it happen again?

Episode 8
Spoiler: show
We start out this episode with another misunderstanding between Akihisa and Minami that results in Minami asking for a small ESB. Ironman is there to grant the request but it seems that Akihisa cannot summon his familiar. He shouts “Summon” a dozen times and in a system glitch summons hundreds of his being and it also seems Ironman cannot shut down the field. In flashback we see a mysterious man trying to break into a high security area of the school and on his way out, he trips the alarms and causes the problem with the summoning field. Back together, Himeji tries summoning her being and it creates a life size version in a devils outfit. Minami does the same and gets the same thing only with a flat chest. Hideyoshi does the same and gets a little red riding hood wolf girl. Yuuji and Voyeur summon their beings and it seems they are all over each other in a yaoi fantasy. Akihisa summons his, but summons millions of smaller versions of him. The principle decides to use Akihisa’s being to put the cord back together that was pulled by going through an ac vent. His summoned being goes through the vents and is attacked by berserk summoned beings. His points reach zero and he is taken to extra lessons. They have him take basic math problems to get a crazy high school and send him back into the vents. This time he defeats the berserk beings and Ironman takes the KIA’s into extra lessons. Akihisa is then attacked by Himeji and Minami’s beings but Miharu’s being attacks Minami’s and they go KIA and take extra lessons. Oh, I haven’t mentioned it because this show is very visual oriented but this episode everyone has been acting like Neon Genesis Eva people. Akihisa defeats Himeji and his being puts the cord back together and our episode ends! Actually it ends with everyone ending up in extra lessons, including Shouko.

Episode 9
Spoiler: show
We start out today with the ever lessening eating habits of Akihisa when his doorbell rings and it’s his sister, Akira Yoshii, who shows up in only a bathrobe. It seems she is here to check in on Akihisa to check and see if he is fit to live by himself. Oh and it turns out his older sister is in love with him. How many tropes are we going to go through anime? All of them? Sounds good to me. At school Akihisa studies and everyone finds this very weird. Akihisa tries to say over at Yuuji’s place, which causes everyone to see them in a BL romance, and tries to convince them to go as a study group, but it ends up happening at Akihisa’s apartment and he doesn’t want people to know about his sister. They get there and there are signs of a woman being at his apartment. Himeji breaks down in tears and his sister walks in and is introduced to them all. They sit down to dinner, eat, and start studying. The next day at school they talk about Akihisa’s sister and how she cares about him, in non sexual ways, and he starts to think about it on his way home. Next day at school Akihisa takes his tests and misplaces all of his answers by 1, ending up with a zero. As our episode comes to a close, Akihisa goes to the kitchen to learn his sister has been trying to cook his favorite food for him. As our episodes Akihisa and his sister talk while on a walk.

Episode 10
Spoiler: show
Our episode starts out today with Himeji, as she reads up on how to give a love letter to Akihisa, when he walks up behind her. She tries to give him the love letter, but instead gives him an envelope containing pictures of him in a maid outfit. We flash back to the morning and Akihisa is woken up by his sister with breakfast, in a can! Back at school, Voyeur is up to his normal routine, Minami is attacking Akihisa for a flat chest comment, and Hideyoshi is here in a female nurses outfit. This doesn’t last long as his sister appears and badmouths him. Back with Himeji she tries other options to give Akihisa the love letter. She tries giving it to Minami to give to him which doesn’t pan out, she tries giving it to Yuuji, but Shouko appears with a taser. She also tries giving it to him with her cooking, which you know how her cooking is, he runs. She tries putting it in his shoe box, but it turns out she dropped near his shoe box. Ironman runs into Akihisa and has him move boxes for him. Himeji finds her love letter but it seems the contents have been switches. It also seems that everyone else has lost an item as well, that was hidden in their boxes that they use for desks; however Akihisa dropped a few boxes and broke them and used their boxes as replacements so their items are locked up in the vault. While trying to think of a way into the vault, Class B president, Kyouji Nemoto appears to give them a hand. He looks oddly familiar. He deals with the password if they can get the key to the vault. They get the key from Ironman, break into the vault, and get their items back; however it seems that Nemoto was trying to steal the mock exam that was in there. Nemoto talks bad about class F, Himeji backs the class up, and Nemoto leaves laughing. While on the roof, Akihisa and Yuuji talk about what happened, and Yuuji suggests that they have another ESB, since their 3 month waiting person after losing is about over, but before that, Yuuji and Akihisa break into the vault once more and grab all the exams and throw them all over the campus. Our episode ends with Nemoto eating Himeji’s cookies that have been secretly left for him. Turnabout is fair play! Next week there might be a full scale ESB!

Episode 11
Spoiler: show
We start out this episode with Yuuji and Akihisa trying to decide on who will go declare and ESB on class D. He does so and they start talking strategies. They decide just to just rush D class and take them out as soon as possible. Minami spearheads the assault in math but the enemy switches the fields to classical literature. The enemy tries to take advantage of this but F class calls in another math teacher and the playing field gets even once again. Yuuji sends out Himeji to end the battle but as he does this 4 random D class people attack Yuuji, who currently has the lowest math scores, or does he? It seems he was a child prodigy and raised his scores well over that of his enemies. Both Yuuji and Himeji dispatch their enemies and they win. After the battle Yuuji says that once they replenish their points they will declare war on B class. After talking with D class, they get back to their room to find it ransacked by B class, and without further development it’s time for the battle against B class. Akihisa uses the tactic of using the F class’s ability to go mad when a girl is mentioned, they go on suicide runs taking out anyone in their paths. Akihisa see’s Himeji talking with Nemoto, who has her love letter. Akihisa see’s this and decides to win under his own power against Nemoto. Akihisa goes to the class near B class and uses his summon to punch a hole in the wall. Just then, Voyeur and Ironman come in through the window and with a Health category ESB defeat Nemoto. After the battle, Yuuji has Nemoto wear a sailor suit instead of trading classrooms so Akihisa can go through his pants and get Himeji’s love letter back. Akihisa gives the note back to Himeji and she rips it up saying it has caused lots of problems, but she wants to call him by his first name, which is a big step. Before our episode ends Shouko asks Yuuji what his drive is and it is to show the world that grades are not everything.

Episode 12
Spoiler: show
We see our main characters practicing something inside of Akihisa’s personal ESB field. He has a few problems shutting it off and wonders why it hasn’t been working properly. We cut to the next morning and it seems that F class has an upcoming ESB with A class. It seems Yuuji’s plan is going well and apparently B class asks for a trial ESB against A class for some reason. Yuuji has Hideyoshi change clothes and act like his sister to get C class riled up for some reason. The bells rings and the trial ESB ends but C class runs up and declares war on class A. It seems Yuuji’s plan is to use the whole school to wear down A class’ scores so it is easier for F class to deal with them. Now it is time for the main battle! Class A rushes F class but they are outside in the courtyard. Class A rushes down to fight them but finds the way blocked with only a small passage way to get to them, where one person can go through at once. They gang up on the person causing them to lose, one by one. Akihisa then has being pull their pants down and they attack them while they are distracted. Aiko Kudou appears and challenges Voyeur to a one on one. Kubo appears to fight Akihisa but Akihisa runs away to the roof where Yuuji is. Shouko and Hideyoshi’s sister find them and it’s time for the final battle. All the training they have been doing increased the dodge abilities of their summon beings. The rest of class A appears but Akihisa uses his summon to throw the school bell in their way to stop them. Yuuji goes to land the finishing blow on Shouko but the iron bracelet reaches its limit and A class pushes the bell past its spot and the roof collapses almost taking Himeji and Shouko with it but Himeji and Akihisa go to fall and Minami goes to catch him but won’t make it in time but Ironman catches them all in the last moment. Everyone is revealing in the almost death of everyone when Yuuji’s being is attacks and class A wins, with everyone crazy confused.

Episode 13
Spoiler: show
We start this episode right where we left off, with Yuuji getting a surprise attack and everyone confused. We cut to the next day and our members of Class F talk about their new desk situation, which are basically boards with strings on them and no mats to sit on. Back at his home Akihisa talks with his sister who tells him to accept the loss and become stronger from it. The next day ad school Akihisa goes to the principal’s office to request an ESB against Class A again, she refuses, and the top people from Class A come in to back his request; because they want it also. It seems no one can stomach the way they won or lost. The principal agrees and Akihisa goes back to his class to tell them they can have their rematch, but this time it is only Akihisa vs Shouko. Whichever side wins gets their wish granted. We aren’t told Akihisa’s wish but we are sure that Shouko’s wish will contain something about marrying Yuuji. In a small aside Hazuki gives Akihisa some cookies and it bolsters his self-esteem. After the bump we have our rematch and it looks like a quiz show honestly. They play with “Sudden Death Rules” which means whoever gets the first one wrong, loses. They start answering questions left and right and they soon get to question 30 and keep going. The 32nd question is the Japanese history question that Shouko got wrong. Akihisa cannot choose between 645 AD (the correct answer) and 625 AD (the incorrect one). With pure luck Akihisa puts down the correct one and wins against Shouko. It seems Shouko lost on purpose to fulfill a promise she made to Yuuji as a child; that she will never forget that information. It seems that Akihisa’s wish was to allow Himeji to take the placement exam again so that she doesn’t have to be in Class F. The next day in class we learn that Shouko took Yuuji to get married but couldn’t because he wasn’t 18 years old. Akihisa is sad that Himeji isn’t there with them, but happy overall. But wait! Himeji comes in and it seems she forgot to put her name on the exam, on purpose, so she could be with everyone and have fun. Akihisa gets mad at this and goes to yell at the principle. Our series ends with everyone calling Akihisa a “Baka” or idiot. Well that’s it, did you enjoy it? It’s a series that you really need to watch to enjoy, not read, but I hope I did my best here!
The reason why people lose is because they do not have Kamina to punch them in the face and tell them to believe in themselves.
