Episode 13
Spoiler: show
We start out with what seems to be a dream of Yuuki running away from the town. After the opening we cut to our Junior Monk as he talks about the villagers. After that we see the final member of the construction family has gone pale and tired like the rest of his family. The Ozaki’s mother appears and tells him his wife has gotten sick as well. She has two bite marks on her neck. Ozaki takes a call from Seishin and they talk about his wife and his father respectively. We cut back once again to Yuuki, who is now conscious talking to Tohru, who has been waiting outside his window. Tohru cries as he once again bites into Yuuki’s neck. Yuuki’s father finds a note from his wife, Azusa, as she has seen Yuuki is dead and she has left the village. Back at the village temple, we see that a monk has been sent home for being pale and tired. We learn that there is a new funeral home and a new clinic. Could the vampires be moving in their own people? In a small aside it’s hinted that Seishin’s father might know something about the vampires. We cut to Akira and Kaori who learn that Yuuki is dead and cannot believe it. As this is happening their father comes home, who has been bitten by Megumi. We cut now to Ozaki and his wife who has been recently fed upon. He walks in as she dies. However the next day, Ozaki seems to tell everyone that she is alive. It seems he is taking care of her to see if she rises or not.

Episode 14
Spoiler: show
As Ozaki treats a small cut on a child he has a day dream that his wife has decomposed. Nothing comes from this as we cut to the son of the liquor store owner, Atsushi. He is outside on his roof drinking as….lady gaga walks up to him? No it’s Chizuru Kirishiki. She is in quite the revealing outfit as she talks her way into being let into his house by being a drinking partner. Back at the clinic it seems one of the nurses, Yuki, has gone missing. We learn that Tokujiro, the last construction worker, has died. We cut to Kaori, who has been awoken my Megumi, as she tells her that her father has died. They search the house and find him next to a card for the new clinic. His wife calls the clinic and they say they will be right there and right as the man on the phone says this, a doctor is there at the front door, asking to be let inside. Back with Ozaki we learn that it’s the 5th day since his wife died and he surmises that this is past the time in which she would rise. He goes in to check on her and the EEG machine she is hooked to suddenly starts showing signs of brain activity. We cut to Megumi as she asks how Yuuki is and we learn he might have been cremated. We also learn that they send people into the cities to capture people for food to be brought back. We cut back to Ozaki who is taking video proof that his wife has turned into a vampire. He opens the blinds and light hits her, burning up her skin. Ozaki calls his head nurse and tells them he won’t have the clinic open so that he can focus on his wife and to keep people away. He starts doing tests on his wife. He also documents the time she wakes up as a vampire. He tries to put her to sleep with various drugs but none of them work. It’s extremely creepy and horrifying to watch him use his wife as an experiment that ultimately ends in him staking his wife through the heart. Our episode ends with Seishin walking in to find the room covered in blood, aghast of situation.

Episode 15
Spoiler: show
It seems to have been seven days now since Yuuki has died and Tohru has been leaving flowers outside his room since there is no grave. After the opening we are back with Ozaki who says he will hunt the Shiki and does not feel bad about staking his wife. Seishin leaves without saying a word. We cut to café creole where Ozaki tells his friends about the current situation. He asks them for help and they downplay it. He heads to the city office to find it empty and that everyone is now working nights. He heads back to the office to find it filled with pale workers. It seems they are changing all the information to make it look like no one is dying in the town. He threatens to cause an uproar when he is stopped by Chizuru who says that Ozaki is her prey. We are “treated” to a funeral thrown by the new place in town, which is very flashy and quite disrespectful. From her e we learn that they are switching the coffins for empty ones. We also learn that the blue haired family member is a Werewolf and not a vampire. We are now at Ozaki’s wife funeral where the nurses have a fight with Ozaki’s mother leading to one of them quitting. That night, Ozaki is outside smoking when Yuuki walks up to him. He asks him if he truly thinks Megumi died. He says yes, and Yuuki walks away, leaving us to wonder if he was really there or not.

Episode 16
Spoiler: show
We start out this episode with some back story on Sunako. As a child she lived long ago in a western style house until one day her father brought Seishirou over for a large formal party. After the opening we see Tohru once again visiting Yuuki’s house to “pray” when Seishirou appears and has him see Sunako back at their house. Now we get some exposition into the back story of Nao who killed her own family in the hopes of them becoming vampires, which none of them have. As a child her parents left her when she was 6 and from this all she wanted was a warm family. Back with Tohru we see him sitting down with Sunako for tea. They talk for a bit and we get a bit more of the back story of Sunako. Her family locked her up and moved and she searched through time for them. She tells Tohru this in the hopes he will change. We now cut to Megumi skipping down the road when she runs into Kaori and Akira’s father. They talk about who he will attack next and he goes back to his house. He tries to get in but cannot since he wasn’t invited in. Their dog, love, starts barking at him and his wife comes to the door. He drags her out and bites her neck. Akira and Kaori and they decide to defend themselves. While walking to get some talismans he over hears some gossip about people leaving a house and coming back and he grabs a stake and goes there. Now with Ozaki we see him talking to Yuuki who is in a tree in daylight. Ozaki says he will kill all the Shiki and Yuuki chimes in with, “yes, including me”. So not only is he a shiki but he can also walk around in the day light as well. Back with Akira he goes to the house to find it boarded up from the inside to prevent sunlight. He finds a shiki sleeping, readies a stake, but before he can do it, Tatsumi stops him. He ties him to a post right next to the shiki who wakes up. Our episode ends with the shiki smiling.

Episode 17
Spoiler: show
Our episode starts with a nightmare of Seishin’s where Ozaki asks him what he will do about the Shikis. We cut to Ozaki making quite a large wooden stake and our opening starts. Later that night Seishin goes out and finds Tohru in the forest. They talk about how he has trouble with killing people still and he walks off after offering some advice. The next day at the temple we learn that one of their monks has died and that Seishin’s father has gone missing. On a laptop on his desk we learn that his father invited the Shiki’s into his house, but only his room alone. Seishin thinks about what his father knows when Kaori appears covered in dirt and looking very sleepless. She tells him that she has already dug her grave since she knows she is next to die. Nothing comes of this scene, yet, as he goes to see Ozaki or rather just stand outside his window then walk off. Actually he goes to the Kirishiki’s house. People are getting attacked more often now and out in the street. While the green haired nurse, ricchan goes out to save her friend she sees her being taken away in a Mac truck. Before Ozaki can get to her she has been attacked. Back at the clinic Madam Kirishiki is there to have her way with Ozaki. He goes to stake her but the stake is shot from afar by Seishirou. She goes to bite his neck but stops her by saying he wants to see the village die out first. This works at first but she ends up biting him and has him destroy all his data and fix the charts so it looks like nothing is wrong. Now all of our good main characters have or will die. Who is next?

Episode 18
Spoiler: show
We start out here listening to two vampires talk about how it’s good to have a job helping the new vampires; as it gives life meaning. We cut to Tatsumi heading to Natsuno’s house. Upon getting there he is stabbed in the stomach by Yuuki’s father; who has clearly gone mad. It seems Tatsumi did not know Yuuki had risen. He tells him that a Werewolf are the special risen that can walk in daylight. They can also eat and breathe like normal humans. Along with that they have better senses and are stronger than your average human or vampire. However this can only happen if they drink blood. It seems that the vampires have almost completely taken over the city as they now walk around at night and play around also. It seems Ricchan has risen and Tohru is there to meet her. We cut to Ozaki who is trying to treat himself with blood. Madam Shiki tells Ozaki that they are trying to create a home base where they can feel safe. Ozaki asks Chizuru out on a date to the November Kagura Dance and she accepts. They walk around town as they meet the people of the town. They finally get to the shrine but she is scared since vampires can’t set food on holy land. She tries to leave but Ozaki for some reason isn’t under her command. Ozaki shows a second bite mark on his arm where another Shiki has bitten him. We learn that it was probably Chizuru who turned Megumi and Ozaki tells Megumi’s father who is there this. Megumi’s father yells out to the festival that she has no pulse and that she is a risen. As the village descends upon her, Seishirou appears riding shotgun. I mean it. He is in the passenger’s seat with a shotgun with Atsushi driving. Before they can ram anyone though, Atsushi’s father, Tomio grabs the car and dead lifts it. Man is the liquor store owner awesome. With this the village is now aware of the Risen. Our episode ends with the crowd throwing things at Chizuru. Ozaki you devious bastard. You knew this would happen, didn’t you?

Episode 19
Spoiler: show
This episode we start with a flashback from Chizuru, as she cuts her hand on a Taro Potato. This is caused from a rock she takes to the head. Ozaki goes to stake her but she gets up and tries to bite him. Tomio runs up and pins Chizuru asking if Ozaki is sure of what is going on. Megumi’s father grabs the hammer and he gets justice for his daughter’s death. Ozaki then explains everything to them and tells the people that they should hunt them down. Tatsumi brings the news to Sunako who says that there are too many of them to leave now; so they are to attack Ozaki and anyone who stands against them. Back with Ozaki he tells the villagers how to kill the vampires. Some people leave saying they cannot kill their own children and leave. Those that stay organize to fight back when the power goes out in the entire village. We cut to Kaori, who is borderline crazy as she hears someone enter her house. It turns out to be her father, who she promptly beats to death. Tatsumi tells Seishin to watch over Sunako and asks to drink his blood, which he allows him. Dawn arrives and the villagers start out their attacks with the new clinic and funeral home. After that they go house to house killing Shiki. They finally get up to the castle on the hill where the Kirishiki’s have been staying. It seems they are not there and to prevent them from coming back they break open all the windows and destroy all the furniture.

Episode 20
Spoiler: show
We start this episode out with more vampire killing. This time it is the son of the lumber yard owner. They continue their crusade when Ozaki learns that his mother has been killed. However instead of sucking her blood someone out and out killed her. From her body there is a trail of blood leading to the killer, who is Atsushi. He begs his father for forgiveness and tries to run away but as he does his father, Tomio, puts a stake through his heart with nothing but brute strength. They gather the bodies of all the Shiki they have killed at the shrine and figure out there is an underground place for them to be hiding when Seishirou begins shooting at them, killing a man with a beard long enough to be Santa Claus. Before he can shoot anyone else Natsuno appears and stops him. Night falls and Sunako wakes up to learn what has happened during the day. We learn that Seishiro is in face a normal human. Back with Tohru and Ricchan who has yet to feed after a few days. She tries to get her friend, one of the nurses who was chosen for her to feed on, to run but Tohru just throws her back in the cell. She cannot stand to feed or kill someone. Tohru feels her sadness and lets the other woman go. Sunako tells Seishin that she is scared but doesn’t understand why people want to kill her if she has only just fed herself to survive. Back with the people at the shrine we see that the vampires have sent in someone under their control in to shoot them. Tomio stakes this man after seeing his wife shot. They have finally crossed a line Ozaki had tried to keep them from passing.

Episode 20.5
Spoiler: show
We start out this episode with a flashback from Nao before she gets married. We get to Nao in the somewhat present as they hide in the pump house they raided the episode before. It seems we get to see the raid on the pump house and water pipe. They come across a few people and try to remember who they are, but the person leading them says it doesn’t matter who they are anymore. They start killing them one by one and then the vampires start fighting back. A few of the humans are bitten and they kill them, not taking any chances. While running away Nao sees the bodies of her dead family and they run into a dead end. They then get dragged out one by one. Nao feels regret over her actions as she is dragged away. They take them outside and tie them up so they are slowly roasted by the sunlight. The owner of the café, after hearing the screams of the vampires, goes around and puts a sharpened pipe through their hearts to end their suffering. This episode really showed the toll that this is taking on the villagers. Driving them all to their breaking points and some almost to madness.

Episode 21
Spoiler: show
We start out here back at the temple where some of the women are dealing with all the bodies. They all act perfectly fine with the fact of that is going on; even so far as to break for rice balls and tea. We cut to Sunako, Seishin, and Tatsumi as they hide under the castle. Sunako is scared and Seishin has come to understand himself better somehow. For some reason we are now with Masao as he hides from the humans and tries to find a place to sleep for the day. He decides to go to his family’s rice store where his sister in law is. He begs to be let in saying he won’t kill anyone. She lets him in but readies a pipe to be swung at his head. We see another of the servants of the Kirishiki’s family take down a group of people and start the one guy on shooting Ozaki from a few episodes ago. She runs across Seishirou who is a vampire now, probably bitten by Natsuno, shoots her head off. Now with Ozaki, nurse Yasuyo, has made it back and lets them know about the vampires living in the neighboring town. The next day they drive there to find the road destroyed. They go on foot and begin killing vampires as they find them. Tomio finds the head monk, who has also been turned. We also see Tohru and Ricchan have been staked. While doing this they realize that there has to be a hidden underground area to the castle and they head there immediately. Tatsumi puts Sunako in a suitcase and they prepare to leave. Tatsumi leaves Sunako in Seishin’s hands and drives off as a decoy. Seishin takes off down another road, which is then found to be blocked, then drives through the forest until he comes out and crashes into Ozaki. Seishin goes into the temple as Tomio goes after him. Seishin hides in a part of the temple when the people hunting him go mad and attack the few remaining people at the temple killing them, including his mother. Seishin comes out of hiding and manages to escape into the mountains but does only so after being badly injured; leaving a blood trail behind him. As our episode ends he hides the suitcase holding Sunako and walks off deeper into the forest.

Episode 21.5
Spoiler: show
This episode starts off with a woman we have seen before in the village walking down the road in a daze. She sees other villagers run past her in demon masks. I think this symbolizes which people are actually the demons at this point based on their actions, but that is just me. We get a flash back and we learn that this woman is named Maeda Motoko. She works at another café in town where a few of the mothers in town work and hang out. Throughout this flash back we see the deaths in town from her point of view. We also see her father in laws death and her husband’s death. We see her slowly start to go mad and then her daughter gets sick and she does go mad. She runs her daughter to the clinic but that is the day that Ozaki had closed the clinic to experiment on his vampiric wife. She goes to the other clinic, run by vampires, but it is only open at night. Her mother in law finds her and yells at her about going crazy over nothing. In the next scene we see that her daughter has died as well as her mother in law. She talks to her son, Shigeki, and we see that he has been bitten on the leg; however, she doesn’t notice it. She locks all the doors and windows and goes into the bathroom with her son. We cut to the woman who owns the café/restaurant and she tries to treat her like a normal person. She throws up the rice porridge made for her and she throws up. At this point the women of the town come around to warn her of the vampires of the town. She decides to feed her mother with her own blood every now and then. We cut to Motoko as she sits in the tub with her son, who has died and is starting to decay. Back in real time Motoko heads to the house of the restaurant owner. She knocks by slamming her head into the door. She curses her father in law over and over again. She heads to the next town over with a canister of gasoline in hand, still cursing her father in law. She goes his house and sets her clothes, the house, and eventually herself on fire. This is where the episode ends.

Episode 22
Spoiler: show
We start out last episode with the villagers combing the woods for Seishin. Sunako wakes up and hears the villagers looking for him and she runs off. We cut to Tatsumi, still driving his car trying to distract them. He crashes his car, gets shot, run over, but still keeps going. In back to back scenes we see the villagers shoot Tatsumi many times and Sunako run after Seishin. We now cut to Akira, Kaori and Natsuno in a hospital in a neighboring town. Probably just to show that she and Akira are alive. We are now with Megumi who is still alive and on the run. It seems Sunako has found Seishin. She calls out for him not to die and the villagers find her and chase after her. There is apparently a fire in the mountains area called Yamairi, which is the fire set in the last episode by Motoko, and Ozaki and another person hop in fire trucks to put it out. This fire allows Megumi to cross the road but she is seen by the villagers. They set a trap, kinda, and Megumi is found. At Yamairi the fire is too out of control to put out so they decide to throw the bodies into the fire to dispose of them. As Megumi tries to escape she is hit by 2 tractors and run over by another. She then has her arm crushed under another as she yells her hatred towards the village and the people in it. As she is doing this a final tractor backs over her head, crushing it, and she is staked through the heart. We cut to Natsuno staring down Tatsumi and Sunako still on the run. Tomio goes to chase her down. Ozaki goes back to the temple and says that the fire will bring outside attention and they need to deal with the bodies first. Back with Tatsumi and Natsuno we learn that Werewolves never really die they just transform after being bitten and getting close to dying. We see Ozaki cutting down trees to halt the fire and Seishin waking in; most likely he is a Werewolf now. Sunako makes it to the run down church and begs most likely god for forgiveness when Tomio corners her. He stops her in her tracks by throwing the mallet he has at her. She goes to bite him but he head butts her. The fire is spreading way to fast and even the main town will go up in flames at this point. Tomio goes to stake her but is attacked from behind. We cut to Tatsumi and Natsuno who have fallen down the pit where they people are throwing the dead bodies. Natsuno pulls out 3 sticks of dynamite and lights them killing himself and Tatsumi. It seems Seishin was the person who attacked Tomio. As the church burns around them Seishin comes to terms with Sunako and her being a vampire. Ozaki and the villagers flee the village, which is almost completely up in flames at this point. We see the temple, the clinic, the castle which has Seishirou walking back into it. Akira and Kaori can see the village of Sotoba burning from the town over. Our series ends with fire trucks going into Sotoba and Seishin driving out with a trunk in the back seat, which I am certain contains Sunako. After the credits and several days later the last of the villagers leave after checking the remains of the town. Natsuno’s dad gets on a bus that has Akira and Kaori on it and the episode ends with them all smiling.
The reason why people lose is because they do not have Kamina to punch them in the face and tell them to believe in themselves.
