Mizutani Shizuku is a studier who is sent to retrieve Yoshida Haru, a violent truent. Haru decides that they are going to be friends, after he decides she isn’t a spy for the school. They have some random adventures with “stray” dogs and Haru’s other “friends” turn out to be mean buttholes taking advantage of him. She tells them off, he kicks their butts, and Haru starts to stress out Shizuku because he is smarter than she is. They fight and then make up.
Haru brings a chicken to school because he thought it looked lonely. A classmate begs for help to study for the makeup exam and Shizuku refuses. However, Haru agrees on the condition she introduces him to online friendships. Haru isn't scared of the darkness anymore because Shizuku is there with him. Sasayan is on the baseball team and is interested in how Haru is doing. Shizuku skips class for the first time and confesses to Haru.
Haru easily accepts and is relieved when Mizuku says she lied about her love. They need to create a home for the rooster so they can keep him at school. The group runs into Haru’s old “friends” and a slight chase scene ensues. The old friends have come to apologize and are recruited to build the rooster home. Mikasa has decided to wait until Haru loves her, and Haru spends the night in order to avoid someone.
Shizuka’s little brother stares at Haru while he sleeps. Haru also gets the highest score and Mitty can’t stand it!! I like it when you smile, Haru. He starts smiling and suddenly everyone loves him!!! Lonely women turn to their pets. Haru gets in a fight with an upperclassmen. They almost kiss and he asks her out over the summer. They all go swimming. Haru is the batting owner’s cousin. They meet his older brother. Want to smash watermelons together at my place? Take me on a date in return for saving you all the time (Mizutani to Haru)
They are going on a date. Haru’s brother show’s up and Haru runs away. He runs into the glasses girl from last episode and they chat for a while. Shizuka gets stuck with his brother, Yuzan. His brother is taunting Haru. Yuzan wants Haru to quit school and go home (or at least that’s what their father wants). Yuzan wants to keep Haru away from home. They make a deal. Haru shares some of his past. “If there’s somewhere you’d rather be, don’t hide it. Don’t lose sight of what you really want.” Glasses thanks Haru for defending her on Sport’s Day (last episode).
Shizuku’s mother is away working and Shizuku is jealous of the glasses girl. Oshima is left out of her class groups because she missed the first week of school, she also might be in love with Haru. Haru tries wearing glasses and really wants Shizuku to nominate him, but she misses the hint. Haru tell Oshima that he loves Mizutani. Shizuku and Haru fight over whether or not to help Oshima. Shizuku and Oshima are paired together for gym and we find out Oshima has no confidence. Oshima totally overreacts to Shizuku's admission and yells at Haru for being oblivious. We get a glimpse of Shizuku's life without her mother, who is always at work. Natsume feels a little left out. Mizutani tells Haru she's no longer attracted to him because she can't let her grades slip anymore.
Haru was raised by his aunt and is still bothered by Shizuku's partial rejection. Haru confesses. Haru's blond friend is from the rich school (the gangster looking one). There's a plan to make money off the cultural festival. They try to get a good spot, but Haru gets in a fight. Oshima introduces herself properly while giving advice to Haru about Shizuku. Shizuku is trying hard not to fall in love again.
They are running a haunted house. It's not very good. They are fighting again. The blonde boy is pointing out that Mitsutani is handling this all wrong. Yuzan comes, breaking his promise. Everyone apologizes to each other for being jerks.
Mizutani's father's store went under. It's the sixth time. She was supposed to be thinking about their relationship. They go fishing for crayfish. Things are getting complicated with all the relationships. Yamaken is also in love with Mizuku.
