Eren and Mikasa are the main characters, Eren having parents and Mikasa being adopted. Eren believes that living inside the walls makes people no better than livestock. The Legion returns and their mission was a complete failure. Eren wants to know what’s on the outside, to carry on what they've died for. Mikasa is the bad ass, not Eren. The Eoten attack and it all goes wrong. Eren’s mother is eaten (his father is away) and he and Mikasa flee with a guard.

On the brink of extinction, humanity built three walls. The children escape on the last boat. A giant armored Eoten comes to battle and breaks through the gate!! Now, more will die. Eren vows to exterminate all Eoten and has a nightmare about his father. Mikasa says that their greatest duty is to survive now until they can fight. The leadership sends “soldiers” to fight the Eoten, so they didn’t all starve. The group joins the 104th cadet group of the army.

= Training camp. Intimidating the new meat. Some have already seen the hell two years ago, no need for intimidation. Potato episode!! Sasha Braus eatin’ a potato cause its delicious. I’ll give you half! Still running laps for five hours. Did you see the behemoth eoten?? What are they like? I’m going to kill them all. My sister is a hot babe now… I just wiped off my faith in humanity. Sister is perfect. Guys hanging upside down. These guys saw the Eotens too… Some just want to hide in the interior. I know you can do it! Your belt was damaged, so you could do that with broken gear!!

-- Physical training begins. Lots of introductions to other characters on the team. He has to fight Annie, the angry girl. Everyone else is improving their skills to stay away from the monsters, instead of fighting them. He calls them on their crap! Now they are graduating and choosing where they want to serve. Eren ranks in the top ten, but he wants to fight instead. He’s accidentally converted a bunch of people to join him. Sasha is still stealing food. Here comes the giant Eoten. He’s breached the wall again.

The Giant Eoten is attacking and the wall is breached. The Behemoth disappears into thin air. They are evacuating the city and trying to defend it at the same time. We won’t be defeated! The rich in the center have no idea how bad it is. The Center guard goes to battle. Find your courage, we survived this training and we can do this (Eren is full of speeches). The Eoten don’t actually need to eat, they just enjoy eating people. Their heads can grow back, so the neck attack is the only sure way to kill them. Someone gets eaten in their first round of attacks, most of the rest follow. Eren saves Armin from getting eaten. Eren dies…?

Armin is found by the next squad alive, but he's having an existential crisis. He feels it's useless. Mikasa is having to deal with civilian merchants being stupid and is remembering her past. When the Doctor arrives, her parents are dead. She was kidnapped by slavers looking for an Oriental to sell off. Eren saves her by stabbing the kidnappers. She realizes that the world is filled with cruelty and kills the final kidnapper. She's off to save Eren... who may or may not already be dead.

The Eoten didn't eat any of the civilians. None of the soldiers can escape because the supply team who supplies their gas is trapped someone. Mikasa finally catches up with Armin. She finds out about Eren and takes charge. They're all going on a suicide mission. Mikasa runs out of gas, both morally and in her gear. But she keeps on fighting because Eren told her to fight. The Eoten are killing each other. Armin gives her his gear.

Armin and Mikasa plan to use the Eoten killer for their own plans. The others who were trying a direct attack are having tons of trouble and are dying. The Eoten-Killer arrives to the throw down. They plan to retake the supply room. It works and they get all the gas they need. They decide to help the Eoten-Killer who apparently can't regenerate. It dies, but Eren crawls out...and he has all his limbs back...?

The Reconnaissance team had gone on a mission and that's part of the reason the casualties were so bad. We find out how Eren's experience inside of the Eoten's stomach. He is born from the Eoten's stomach...or something. However, he talks about killing everyone and they think he means humans. They think he is a monster. Whenever he is hurt, he changes into the Eoten form, at least partially.
