Eren changes and decides he needs to find the basement. He's convinced he should go it alone. Armin realizes he's not worthless and convinces the Garrison Eren's not a threat. Pixis shows up to settle the fight. Eren decides to try to block the hole in the wall.

They decide to try to seal the hole, but the Titans aren't their only enemy. Everyone is afraid. Armin makes an awesome plan to minimize loss and maximize effectiveness. The head guy encourages them to fight to protect their families. The special guard is decided to protect Eren. Eren gets a lecture on responsibility and transforms. But attacks Mikasa.

The costs of this battle are high. Eren has lost control. Everyone is in turmoil over the failure of the plan. Eren's Eoten doesn't regenerate. Armin decides to try to get Eren out of the body. Eren is hallucinating badly. Armin finally reaches through to Eren and he is consumed in the fire of his own rage!!! Not really, he just wakes up.

Armin is able to wake Eren up. Jean attempts to retreat and the entire squad comes out to help him. Eren is carrying the boulder to the gate. Eren wants freedom. They won the battle, dispatching the remaining Eoten, but the loses were incredibly high. They clean the city and mourn their friends. Levi takes responsibility for Eren and Eren joins the Reconnaissance team.

The town has heard about Eren in rumors, but no one is sure what is going on. The General of all militaries will make the final decision. Eren will be tried and his fate decided. The trial is a little weird. Levi takes over Eren after he beats the crap out of him.

The legion takes Eren to a castle to hide him. They clean the whole place. Eren tries to explain his powers. The scientist commander (Hanji) shows up and wants to experiment on the Eoten. The Eoten are sun powered. They respond differently to pain. She thinks they are perceived differently than they actually are, they are unnaturally light. The Eotens were killed while she told Eren all.
