Purdue Anime Club Art Classes - Official Information

Postby samapuma » Sun Sep 20, 2009 6:09 pm

Hello. This is Tatsuhoshi and Samapuma, aka Chris and Sam, the art teachers for the anime art classes being hosted by PAC. Due to unforeseen circumstances, we are posting this info late, but it will be consistent from this point on. (If no one shows up for this first session today, then I'll start the classes next week on the 27th of September)

Location: The classes will typically be held in the Stewart building, though they sometimes place us in the Union. The exact room number is normally 307 or 204, but be sure to check the room listings to make sure. We'll try to preempt them when possible and post the room numbers here when we actually get a solid list of rooms. The classes will be shown on the listing as Purdue Anime Club, NOT as Anime Art Classes.

Pricing: As much as we would like for these classes to be free for the students or included in their tuition, we are independent teachers, and, so, that's not quite possible. The classes are inexpensive, however, because we all know that college students are perpetually broke. Classes will be $10/class or $165 for 24 classes. This is largely just to cover the gas (we live in Indianapolis) to get out here and potential supplies (yes, we will sometimes buy supplies for our students).

About the Art Classes: Many of you are probably wondering what, exactly, these classes will cover. Though we do not have a specific curriculum, the classes will cover a variety of techniques and styles meant to help the students develop their own style of drawing, rather than making them a carbon copy of some other artist. The classes will cover beginning techniques, as well as a variety of advanced techniques and will move at the pace of the students. Since we have two teachers, we can split the class into groups to focus on the needs of the students in individual areas in an effort to make the most of the classes. When possible, we will have guest teachers come to cover a session on their individual or specific techniques, as every artist has their own way of doing certain things.

Please feel free to make inquiries if necessary and we will respond as soon as we are able to do so.

Chris, next time you come to club, see me for a copy of room schedules. We included you when signing up for rooms this year, and so they are all preassigned with the exception of one night when we could not get a room and all other buildings are closed, and certain holiday weekends.

Unfortunately, they scheduled Samapuma to work this Sunday, so today's class will have to be canceled. Sorry for the inconvenience and hope to see everyone next week or at PAC.
