PAC Website Progress

“Purdue PAC” and “Purdue Anime Club” now both appear as the first result on google. Hurray.

I wonder when it happened. I just randomly popped it in and it showed as the first result.

It’s not a real word, but it describes what I can do with the main page now.
On a whim I can change the box colors and borders on a whim thanks to CSS styling.

I plan on doing this with the new site. As a result I can make a site without frames and have much more leeway in making a better looking site using current technology.

I have the layout done, but it’ll be a while before I make it into something. I might have a “beta” site being run along side the current site before it becomes official.

So yeah, I had extra time this morning to actually update the site.
Added backgrounds to the PAC Main Page, PAC Classic, and PAC 27 Plus as well as minor layout changes.
The background in the PAC Main Page is a placeholder until I find something better and make it into a decent background.

Cosplay is next on page changes, but that’s been the neglected part of the club I guess…so I should at least do something for it.
I will be adding PAC “logos” to PAC Classic and 27 plus similar to what I did with the front page.

Yeahhhh, about those TPS reports…
I hit a snag of something awesome. You know how chapel always talks about WoW?
I got into D&D:Online.

Regardless, look at the pretty buttons on the left there. Aren’t they so cool?
Yeah, totally.

Also, I’ll get to updating the PAC Classic and 27+ pages, I promise.

Up until now, I’ve been posting my progress as the new webmaster as part of the “Announcements” portion of the main page.
Of course, the downside to this is lack of space for potentially more important notices, such as talking about events and the like if I take up the majority of the box with trivial matters such as the website.
As a result, I made this. From here on I’ll post any website related matters on this blog.

First off, I have reclaimed the pac@expert.ics.purdue.edu email, and I will be using it for direct email to the webmaster.
If you’re fine with the gmail account, feel free to continue using it, just note that the old email is working again and essentially starting fresh.
Also, forums have been reorganized to better suit expansion of any potential other subforums. Keep this in mind if you’ve gotten used to the old layout.
The database of which has been backed up, so there shouldn’t be any issues if it crashes (potentially).

The “NERD” logo has been facelifted to mirror the new Evangelion logo, and will premier officially on the new website which is currently set to go gold over Winter Break.
A quick preview is as follows.

My next couple tasks are updated the PAC 27+ and Classic webpages to be similar to my changes to the main PAC page.
I’ll be adding a header image bearing the group’s name, adding a relevant background to what the club is showing, as well as adding boxes to allow ease of reading.
The white on black gets old after the first few times, and it detracts from the rest of the site.
If there are any color themes or backgrounds you wish to suggest for the two pages, feel free to post comments.

I’m in the progress of trying to get the PAC website back up to the top of the page. After I got google to delete a few of the old forums from the search engine, the PAC entry dropped a few spots.
It’ll take a while until it goes back up to the top, unfortunately. For the meantime, if you’re using Google to try to find the main page, simply go to the Facebook page which is on the top and use the link in there.
