Paint Crew Guidelines and Policies

General Admission Purpose

The Paint Crew has long been one of the largest student sections, not only in the Big Ten, but the nation as well. Our goal by implementing general admission is to increase spirit, support, and general game-day atmosphere for all games in Mackey Arena, which will help take the Paint Crew to the next level of being the best student group in the country. General Admission seats will get students to the game earlier and reward those students with the best seats in the house.

Paint Crew Tickets

Paint Crew members will have general admission seating in the lower arena from the aisle break of section 6 through the aisle break of section 9 (6H – 9L) and in the upper arena from the aisle break of section 107 through the aisle break of section 109 (107H – 109L)

Game Day Staff

The Paint Crew officers/committee members will supervise the lines leading up to the doors opening. Once doors open the officers will be inside the arena to supervise the seating and assist in guiding members to the appropriate sections if needed.

Line Formation

  • If you choose to line up before the line formation time, The Paint Crew cannot ensure your spot in the line in anyway. The Paint Crew will not be responsible for the line before the times stated. Please conduct yourselves with courtesy and respect for others.
  • Members may lineup outside Mackey beginning at 8 a.m. on non-school days & weekends, and at noon on school days.
  • The line of people must start outside of Gate C of Mackey Arena and angle toward Northwestern Street. A Paint Crew officer will help facilitate the lines.
  • First in line will mean the best seats.

Admission Policy

  • When the gates open all members are asked to proceed to the entrance with respect for those around you. Members can then proceed to one of the Paint Crew sections of Mackey Arena.
  • Once you enter and receive your ticket you are here to stay, half time is the only exception to this rule.
  • There is no saving of seats for those team members who could not make it on time.
  • Seats are first come, first serve for Paint Crew Members.

Apparel and Signs

Every member of the Paint Crew represents the Paint Crew and more importantly Purdue University. Please conduct yourself in an appropriate manner. Paint Crew members have two options as to what to wear on game days. Option one is the Paint Crew t-shirt. Option two is a costume. The Paint Crew officers will hold discretion over what constitutes an acceptable costume. Dressing up as Coach Painter or Coach Keady is always acceptable. There may be certain games that we will have themes and everyone will be encouraged to dress up.

Wearing the Paint Crew t-shirt is the minimum requirement to be able to sit in the lower bowl NO PAINT CREW SHIRT/COSTUME=NO LOWER BOWL. Also no IU shirts and/or red Purdue shirts will be permitted in the lower bowl under any circumstances.

All signs must be in good taste. However, we see no harm in being creative and encourage all members to poke some good-natured fun at the other team. As always the athletic department will be the final authority on determining whether a sign is in good taste.

Additional Issues

We advise all students to take care of themselves and their classes before worrying about a basketball game. Since this will be the first year of general admission, the rules may be tweaked as necessary. However, the Paint Crew officers will make every attempt to get the word out through e-mail, Facebook, and our Web Site.

If special circumstances arise while in line, the Paint Crew officers will hold discretion.
