Since 1999 the Purdue Automotive Performance Association has sponsored a car show in conjunction with the Grand Prix event. Our peak attendance was in 2003 with approximately 90 cars, this was diminished in 2004 due to the threat of rain and in 2005 for the same reason. In 2006 we experienced an amazing day, the lot was packed and the weather was warm. We plan to have another successful show for 2007. We plan to have vendor's booths at the show and dealerships that will be advertising. There will a live band playing throughout the day. There will be several judged classes, with awards going to the top 2 cars in each class. There will also be a prize for two “best of show” winners, as well as many other awards. In addition, we will have restrooms, and we are planning to have food and entertainment.

GRAND PRIX RACE

For the second year in a row, the club will be running a Grand Prix kart in the race on the day of the show. As a club with a genuine interest in the skill, performance, and engineering behind racing, we are confident that we have what it takes to be competitive and place in the top five in the 2007 race season. Our Crew Chief from 2006, Louis Gigliotti, has worked as the crew chief for LG Motorsports where they have what is known to be the fastest NA, no power added Corvette in the nation. Louis helped our team in 2006 perform in the top 5 for the majority of the race. This year we will be bringing back the same great cart under new leadership. Our crew team for 2007 is being formed, and more information on them will be available in the future.
