I will probably be going to the T&T at 41 on friday night. The low is suppose to be upper 40's to low 50's. Anyone else up for it?
I'll actually be going home that night, my g/f will probably go and drive her car as well (place for my tires), and we will stop at 41 on the way.
I'll probably shoot to leave around five o'clock....give or take....but is open to possible change.

I was just watching the news, apparently a low pressure front is coming in friday morning, possibly bringing isolated rain showers. The rain should be out of the state by early evening though, so we should be ok.

I'll probably be there sometime between 4-5, and leave soon thereafter.
Random info:
Unfortunately, when I installed my new ported throttle body, the throttle blade was open WAY too far and the "idle" was approaching redline , so my times won't be as improved as I had hoped. I had to put the stocker back on. And not only that, but I set an engine light in the process AND it ate up the time I was goign to use to change my oil that has seafoam in it AND I have five hours of class tomorrow. :(

DOH!
That about explains it. I picked the wrong damn tube to put it through the first time, having had zero experience with seafoam or anything of the sort. However, seafoam can be used in oil. I just didn't want to since I changed it about two weeks ago. I've been real busy this week and am really behind. Two exams, plus my 20 hours in class a week, and I changed my plugs and wires already.....I'm in the middle of trying to get my stupid new ported TB to work  and I still have to minorly pack (going to 41 on my way home tomorrow) and I have to get my shit for the track together yet........and I have class basically from 9:30-3:20 tomorrow..........but I'll be at walmart ready to go b/t 4-5 somehow. :D

We had a good turnout.
I had alot of fun. My best of the night was,
13.626 @97.58mph with a 1.858 60'.
The harder I launched it the harder it ran.
I got the 1.858 60' with a 11 pound launch on slicks non posi NO BLOW OFF VALVE.
The slicks being 28 inches tall hurt my gearing and it showed on my mph. Also after the launch the car would bog a little, untill the 11# launch.

Timeslip is back in my car... but I finally can say I drive a 12 second car
12.9 @ 111.12
60' was ~1.9
Based on the MPH the car still has more left in it. Definately gotta work on the launch. But I'm gettin there.
In other news, Amanda still wants to be my girlfriend even after putting up with a long-ass ride in my non-airconditioned car and turning a dinner date into a track night. I think she's a keeper :D

Thanks Jeremy.
I'm pretty disapointed in my performace as well. I'm begining to think its not the car but the driver.
Hoping some stiffer suspension will help that rocking back on take off and allow me more traction.
And after a couple more things I have to put on we'll see what it can do.

shane, the car mphs pretty damn well though. 107 is moving pretty well along, must be a great car from a roll.
what tire are you running at the track?
blkZ28spt
09-26-2004, 03:19 PM
I didn't do as good as I thought I could either. The track was very slick compared to last time I was there. I spun on 5/7 of my runs. Best was:
60' 1.74
1/8 8.04
1/4 12.63@106
The rest of the runs I spun to a 1.8-1.9 60' and ~12.8. Damn the ported throttle body for having to ride along in the back seat instead of in the engine bay where it belonged!
Although, asyou can see by looking at my sig, I was very close to what I ran before when I did stick. Difference is that it was 20* warmer that day!

Motor Trend claims a 14.0 @ 101.2mph for a stock 2003 350z. Granted thier drivers are pros, but if the 350zs at the track were modded (assuming since they were there at all, but i could be wrong) they should be able to get 14 flat no problem with a decent driver.

you whore. It takes a 10 mm socket, a pair of pliers, and 5 minutes to put on an LS1 TB!!
Whats your excuse? :D bitch!
Motor Trend, thier drivers are pros,
That's funny Matt... Their drivers SUCK.. They got a 14.6 out of a Gen 2 lightnng.. Everyone else on the planet was getting 13.8's out of em..
All they do is launch and plant... Smoke'em if ya gottem
Sounds like you need to get your launch down.. 14.4@97 is alittle funny.. The HP is there, the traction and launch aren't.
He showed me the problem. Basically when the new TB is on, the throttle cable is too damn short, so the thing hangs open at about 30% throttle. Looks like GM changed the TB cam somewhere between the 98 and 02 motors. It looks like a newer series TB cable would do the trick.
Gotta call up Jason Cromer, Nathan ;)

basically, i beat the 350z on the first run, but when i compared timeslips, he did have a better time and speed than me, but his launch was horrible. my launch is horrible just as well. on the second run, he mis-shifted and got like a 16 something. but since i know my 1/4 times now, i'm just happy that my car performs decent. i'm not gonna worry too much about improving my times until a i do a major upgrade, i.e. turbo. i'll also have to keep on practicing my launching.

also, when motortrend tested out the 1995 m3, they said they launched it at 4500 rpm and got the 1/4 in 14.3 @ 98 mph. that's fuckin nuts considering when i try launching anything above 3000 rpm all i get is smoke and unlimited wheelspin. even at 2500 rpm, tim said my tires were spinning too much.

Although pete already stated, the problem is that I swapped them on thur and when I started the car it did just what I expected, and when I shut it off about one second later the tach froze at ~4,500 rpm and all I did was let it "idle". :P

look at my post in "fucking teach these kids something", again i'll specifically state that my car is mainly a street car, i am not worried spending the most money on high performance tires, and also, if auto-xing is all about skill, then why should tires matter so much? (i'm not talking about comparing racing slicks to street tires)
MBPEJ20

just so u know, ALL OF OUR CARS ARE STREET CARS. AUTOXING IS 95% skill. for example, no matter what u have, u wont beat me. But im not racing against you. Im racing against other ppl that are on my level as a driver. Then you need TIRES. nothing else matters as much as tires.
Ehrlic just got full suspension but hes on stock tires, and he still cant drive either. So his times wont improve at all. Once he learns to drive, he can get good tires and improve by 2-3 sec.
you should seriously go autox. ITS WAY BETTER TO LEARN ON CRAPPY TIRES. if you get good tires now, u will just kill them.
and seriously, we are shit talking a lot tonight, but we are just joking.
There is nothing wrong with ur tires, and they are a good tire to learn on. I learned on even shittier tires when I first started and I'm gonna race on my Re92 for a bit on oct. 23rd anyway man. The only person you are competing against is urself. Do you want to be a better driver???? go autox and try to beat ur own time everytime. WE are all there to have fun.

alright, i understand everyone has a street car, what i mean is just for the streets, i rarely take my car to any races because i know how much wear and tear it is on the car and i don't have money. i'd say your comment about me not beating you a little cocky, but granted i'll take it that you've done it for a while and that you're good at it. i also understand that you're on a different level, i am in class BSP. again, i know how much wear and tear it is on my car and i cant afford it. so quit telling me to go and i'm fucking exhausted from typing and i'm sure everyone is annoyed at this endless conversation, so i'm done replying for this thread.

AUTOXING IS 95% skill.
A bad driver in a good car will be good
A Bad car with a good driver will be good
A Bad car with a bad driver will suck
A Good car with a good driver will be best.
You are only as capable as the car. If the car wont turn in, it wont turn in. That is unrelated to the driver.
your 95% statement is only 5% true.
