What are we going to do with the money earned from the show? I hate to say this (sorry Luke) but i think it should be saved to try to help the club grow in the future. I am also going to add a poll on raising dues. I really think we could do more in a year with higher dues.. All numbers in the poll are for one semester.

I really think both these views I have will truly help the younger members become more interested as we can start looking into a garage, tools, dyno, etc.

Its you all's club now, I'd love to see it grow, whatever you guys think will work, I've tried my share of things, some good some bad. I'm just glad to see more people stepping up and caring about what happens with the club now.

How about $10/ semester? that's $20 a year, not too bad. With $15/ semester ($30/ year) that might be too much and keep people from joining. I like the club and all, but if dues were over $15 a semester I doubt I would pay.

I know it's not this club.. buy fyi, PORC, which has purdue sponsorship, around 120 members, with only 40 that show regularly charges $35 a year.

The main gripe Ive had over the years as a paying member is that other than the occasional burger at the mall show, I never really see any of my money go to a use really. Now had the track day worked out, then yea all the money i paid in over the years would be worth it. Just keep in mind that if people are pying in 20+ a year, they expect to get something out of it.

I'm sure John could give us a "fiscal year income statement" if he wanted, but I'm guessing that the club doesn't make enough money to do jack.

Adam's got a point... this is just like the student activity fee... if you want it to go through, we need to lay out what kinda cool, off-the-wall stuff it could be used for. $20 / semester times 30 people is $600.

Track rentals?
Talks by Indy-based race teams?

I dunno... just throwing ideas on the table.

PORC dues include membership dues into the Indiana Four Wheel Drive Association (IFWDA) and membership dues into the United Four Wheel Drive Association (UFWDA). Part of the reason they are $35.

Like Adam said, we don't do enough to warrant the increase. Now, if we had an increase perhaps we could do more, but the increase should be done a little at a time so everyone doesn't just quit the club.

If you want a report, I can whip one up, but the only money we have coming in is from members (36 @ $5 each) and sponsors/car show entrants for the GP car show, a lot of which goes back into trophies and supplies for the show.

I think it is a legitimate idea, but needs to be talked through. I agree with adam and john that there needs to be some REASON for people to higher dues, or any dues at all. If there was a reason, then yes, we all would probably pay more. I'd suggest someone look into the car club at Rose-Hulman and a couple other school and see how things are ran and what kind of things they do. This club was initially started by a bunch of guys in a garage, that certainly meant well, but didnt necessarily lay a lot of ground work for a prominent/big club.

Hear him out, he's only trying to help.
