The Story of Webster

Webster

Webster the Great Pyrenees puppy was born in 2004. His short life made a large impact on the family that adopted him. Mariah and Aaron Stoneburner adopted Webster on Christmas of 2004 and fell in love with him instantly. He joined a loving family which already included another beautiful Great Pyrenees.

Shortly after having Webster, the Stoneburners noticed him becoming gravely ill. So they took Webster to their vet and found out that he had an unknown blockage in his intestines. After several surgeries Webster did not get any better, but only got worse. They rushed him to the emergency animal hospital where they considered him to be in critical condition. The next morning their vet sent Webster to Purdue for some tests.

Purdue discovered that Webster was suffering from an intestinal complication due his previous surgeries. The Stoneburners were given the choice to have surgery done or to put the poor pup down. They felt they couldn't do such a thing for the puppy who have been in their life for such a short period of time. However, they did not have the money for the surgery. Purdue then gave them the option of donating him which the Stoneburners decided to do. The surgery was successful; and Webster was finally recovering. However, they only had a few days to come up with the money to get him back in their family; or they would lose him for good.

We at Helping Paws helped the Stoneburners out in their time of need by raising enough money so that Webster could go back home to his family. We were only glad we were able to bring Webster home. It was worth it to see those happy faces on Webster's parents.

UPDATE: Webster passed away on February 21, 2005. The Stoneburners said, "Webster really touched our lives in the short time that he was here. We find comfort in thinking that we got him for a reason and that reason was to fight for him, which we did until the end." Helping Paws would like to thank the Stoneburners for keeping us updated on Webster's story. We are happy that we could help out in his fight to survive.
