Blackout On Planet Rube

The 2005 machine was built with the task of removing and replacing the batteries in a flashlight and turning it on.  Based on a theme of life on another planet, life lived happily until the lights went out.  Eventually, the government gives the O.K. to replace the batteries, and from the Rube machine does the rest.  This 125 step machine won 1st place at Regional competition, 1st place at National competition, and the People’s Choice Award.  The machine also appeared on ABC’s Jimmy Kimmel Live.  Check below for photos and video of the 2005 machine.
