My name is Jonathan Pettit. I am the Associate Director of the Center on Religion and Society at Purdue University. My research focuses on Daoist scriptures, especially the ways that communities invent, revise, and reproduce sacred texts. My upcoming book, “A Library of Clouds: A Bibliographic History of Daoist Scriptures,” examines the production of “apocryphal” scriptures in mid-5th century China. I have also just completed a year-long field study of Yiguan Dao temples in Taiwan, and am working on a book on 20th century revelatory literature in China. At Purdue, I am also organizing a study abroad tour for Purdue students to map sacred sites of in western China with GIS technologies.
