Purdue's EWH

Trinity Volunteers

The Trinity Nursing Center for Infant Health was and continues to be a partnering organization of Purdue EWH. The nursing center is based in Lafayette, IN, and was dedicated on April 30, 2006. It was created based upon a partnership between Trinity United Method Church (TUMC) and the Purdue School of Nursing. The clinic has grown from serving 400 to 600 families in the local community.

Purdue EWH members helped to refurbish Trinity's 100+ year old facility by cleaning, scraping paint off and repainting the basement walls, and painting the exterior of house. Furthermore, the students built several shelving units to store medical supplies and equipment and to also serve as a food pantry. To complete this project, EWH members donated 3 - 4 hours every Saturday morning from the latter half of the Fall 2007 semester to the end of the school year.

In the Spring of 2007, EWH members continued their involvement with Trinity by donating an education corner. The corner includes children books in Spanish and English that are diverse, engaging, and fun. The book topics range from space to the alphabet to engineering. Also, the corner includes a computer with touch screen monitor. Purdue EWH received $1500 from the Office of Engagement to complete the project.

In the Fall of 2008, Purdue EWH has continued its involvement with the Trinity center by volunteering time every Sunday to read stories to the children, as well as coming up with and organizing activities that are entertaining and educational.
