Awards
Graduate Student Excellence Award
The Graduate Student Excellence Award recognizes outstanding scholarship and professionalism by Graduate Students at Purdue University. The award will be given to one Master’s student and to one Ph.D. student who exemplify excellence in the three missions of Purdue University: Discovery, Engagement, and Learning. This award is sponsored by the Purdue Graduate Student Government (PGSG) and is awarded by the Academic and Professional Development Committee. Applications will be accepted from February 1, 2012 to April 2, 2012.
Selection Criteria
• Discovery Achievements. Applicant must demonstrate excellence in research, technical awards, patents, publications, co-ops/internships, etc.
• Learning Achievements. Applicant must demonstrate how they participate in the Learning mission of Purdue. Teaching assistantships, awards, honors, etc. may be used as evidence
• Engagement at Purdue University. Applicant must demonstrate a high level of engagement in both their department as well as Purdue University as a whole.
• Engagement in the Community. Applicant should exhibit community involvement, including volunteer work and projects that benefit the community.
• Organizational Involvement. Student organizations and clubs, honor societies and organizations, departmental organizations, professional organizations, etc. all contribute to professional excellence.
Submission Materials
- Two letters of recommendation (one of which should come from the major professor). Letters of recommendation should address one or more of the selection criteria listed above.
- Completed application form
- Application essay (Description on page two).
Submission Deadline Date: April 2, 2012 (4:00 PM)
Method of Submission: The application for and letters of recommendation should be submitted via campus mail, U.S. mail, or hand delivered to the address listed below. If materials are submitted separately, please be sure that everything is clearly labeled in order to avoid confusion.
