From the Active Chapter President:
Over the past year several changes have been made to point Phi Sig towards a more bright and successful future. Several policies have been put into place that already have shown significant improvements with the house. In just one year we have gone from 32nd to 14th out of all 41 fraternities at Purdue in overall member GPA, with a point average of 2.73 cumulative. Some of this is due to the good grade scholarship that the house has put into place, which gives money back to students, about $100 directly from the house, for receiving a GPA of 3.0 or higher. This is a great practice because when houses give back to their members the members become more motivated to reach those goals, which ultimately benefits both the member and the house.
As you may have read in current issues of “The Signet”, Phi Sigs at Purdue have also been involved in several philanthropies on campus. During the Super Bowl season one entrepreneurial member designed a unique T-shirt commemorating the game between Chicago and Indianapolis, both of which are on highway I-65. Over $500 was raised for the Phi Sig national service project, The Special Olympics, by selling shirts for the “I-65 bowl.” Purdue Phi Sigs also received 3rd place overall in the Alpha Phi “Ivy Man” competition which raises money for cardiovascular health research. This was accomplished through participation in all of the competitions events and from donations from brothers toward the research’s fund.
Throughout the last year and this summer a lot of work has gone into making the house a more attractive and livable space. Several rooms have been refinished and repaired with house funds in order to increase appeal for possible prospective members, and also to keep the house running for a couple more years. The members hope to be finished with all of the projects within the next month or two.
The past year was also a great time for intramural activities. Phi Sig became semi finalists in flag football and softball, and finalists in dodgeball. The house hopes to take home the gold this coming year with lots of pre season preparation and increased participation.
All of the Purdue Phi Sigs would like to invite every Alum to come visit the house anytime. A great time to visit is during the homecoming game which has become somewhat of a tradition for many. The game this year is on October 27th versus Northwestern. It is a lot of fun for us to have Alums come out and tailgate with us while telling stories from when they were here.
All of us at the house would also like to have more Alums around during the recruitment season to help us bolster our numbers and make the house stronger. Our recruitment chair has some great events planned for the coming “rush” season and we would really enjoy seeing some more Alums stop by. Also please let us know if anyone knows of any students coming to Purdue, as this will greatly assist us in finding new members to join Phi Sig.
If anyone has any questions, or would like to come down and see the house, feel free to contact me. My E-mail is Kforgue@purdue.edu, or call my cell phone at (847) 682-7965.

From the Alumni President:
This past year has been very active for the Alumni Board. Last fall the Board along with several other area alumni helped the actives re-landscape the house, painted many rooms, and did minor carpentry. This was financed by the generosity of many of the alumni. Thank you.
Since we know that our time is limited at 302 Waldron, we are always looking for a possible relocation. This year the Chi Phi house in Tower Acres became available. After much discussion, the Board decided that this was not the right house at the right time for us. We are continuing the keep our eyes and ears open and are looking at all options. Recently I appointed several committees to explore and evaluate available houses, costs to maintain our present house for 5-10 years if it is still available, work on membership and recruitment of new members for the active chapter. These reports are to be presented at Homecoming this fall to give us a guideline for the future.
The active chapter is doing a good job of finding the right brothers with a Phi Sig fit. This fall there will be 15-16 actives living in the house, a significant improvement over last year - and their attitude is excellent. I am excited about the future of Phi Sigma Kappa at Purdue.
I am looking forward to another good year to keep the momentum going forward. If you get back to Purdue, stop in and meet the brothers. They always enjoy meeting the Alumni.

From the Alumi Secretary / Newsletter Editor
As noted above, the active chapter leadership, its entire membership, and the alumni Board believe Delta triton is getting better in many ways. We all want to continue this improvement.
Our alumni are diverse: a wide span of ages, locations and occupations. Many of us have never been asked to help, except financially, since we left campus. We want to invite alumni to volunteer to share their talents, skills and connections that will help the current undergrads meet their goals and objectives at Purdue. More about that in the next newsletter and at the annual meeting at Homecoming.
Finally, this is being distributed via e-mail only. If you should be in touch with any Delta triton brother not on our list, please share this with them and notify us how we can reach them by e-mail. Thanks.
