During Monica's second year of teaching in the Resource Room at Santiago Christian School, Santiago, Dominican Republic -- Bill, Jennifer, Samuel, and Peggy spent the Christmas holidays with Monica on this Carribean island <> 2003-04.

Monica did FINALLY make her return visit to the DR in April of 2009 ~ after four years!

North coast of the Dominican Republic



The first day in the Dominican Republic was spent settling in and running a few errands. The next day, we all went to a beach in the north -- Monica's friend Laura joined us. After Christmas (Laura and one other friend joined us), we drove to Santa Domingo for a two night stay; returning to Santiago to visit with Monica's friends before returning home to the U.S! Our visit seemed short and wonderful, but it was time to return to the relatively more peace and quiet of our Indiana home. There is much music and fireworks in celebrating the holidays down there:
