When
Christ was on earth, the dogwood grew
To a towering size with a lovely hue.
Its branches were strong and interwoven
And for Christ's cross its timbers were chosen.
Being distressed at the use of the wood
Christ made a promise which still holds good:
"Not ever again shall the dogwood grow
To be large enough for a tree, and so
Slender and twisted it shall always be
With cross-shaped blossoms for all to see.
The petals shall have bloodstains marked brown
And in the blossom's center a thorny crown.
All who see it will think of me,
Nailed to a cross from a dogwood tree.
Protected and cherished this tree shall be
A reflection to all of my agony."

Have Thine Own Way, Lord
Text: Adelaide A. Pollard, 1862-1934
Music: George C. Stebbins, 1846-1945
Tune: ADELAIDE, Meter: 54.54 D
Have Thine own way, Lord! Have Thine own way!
Thou art the Potter, I am the clay.
Mold me and make me after Thy will,
While I am waiting, yielded and still.

Francis Collins as told to Jim Hinch:
A man of science, a man of faith ~ His Beautiful World
What do you believe? "The deeper I looked, the more I found him. In the fact that the universe couldn't
create itself. In the breathtakingly precise physical calibrations that make life possible. In the knowledge
of right and wrong that all beings share. And ultimately in the person of Jesus Christ.
At the age of 28 I became a believer."
"...someone asked, 'can't we dispense with spirituality, given all
the advances of modern science?'"
"It's true that science has shown us how marvelously complex our bodies and brains are. And it's true that the
hardware for all that complexity - our neurons and their connections - were made possible by genetics. But that
isn't the whole story. You see, scientific processes were God's plan to prepare a flesh-and-blood home for the spirit
to dwell in. He shaped us over millennia, then gave us each a soul and the desire to be with him.
Science doesn't refute God. It affirms him, and gives us new respect for the beauty of creation."

At the Center
"As a teenager I wondered where science and spirituality met.
I got my answer in a surprising place."

Lyrics for Song: I Love You This Much
Lyrics for Album: Jimmy Wayne
(Jimmy Wayne/Chris DuBois/Don Sampson)
{omitted}
Half way through the service
While the choir sang a hymn
He looked up above the preacher
And he sat and stared at him
He said "Forgive me Father"
When he realized
That he hadn't been unloved or alone all his life
His arms were stretched out as far as they'd go
Nailed to the cross, for the whole world to know
[Chorus:]
I love you this much and I'm waiting on you
To make up your mind, do you love me too?
However long it takes I'm never giving up
No matter what, I love you this much
