Greek Open

The Pi Kappa Phi -- Alpha Phi Greek Open is a golf tournament held each September as a benefit for our national philanthropies, PUSH America and the Alpha Phi Foundation. Annually, several fraternities and sororities take part in the tourney held at the Purdue Golf Course. They compete in the most competative Greek golf event on campus: a four-man scramble with the winners typically 12 under par over 18 holes.

PUSH America was founded by Pi Kappa Phi in 1977 to promote a better understanding of those with disabilities. Across the country, Pi Kapps raise money and donate their time through several programs sponsored by PUSH America. The Journey of Hope is the largest of such programs. In the JOH, seventy Pi Kapps representing different chapters across the nation ride bicycles from San Francisco to Washington, D.C. The event, consisting of two simultanious routes, spans 63 days and 22 states to raise awareness for those with disabilities. Other events sponsored by PUSH America include Give-a-PUSH Weekends and PUSH Camps. These events allow many more members of Pi Kappa Phi to show their concern for the handicapped by helping to make the world a little better for them.

The Alpha Phi Foundation is the national philanthropy of Alpha Phi sorority. The Foundation provides support for leadership conferences and workshops, for scholarships, for emergency aid to sisters in need, and for women's cardiac care and other health projects. In addition most of the money raised on behalf of the Alpha Phi Foundation is donated to the local chapter of the American Heart Association. The Foundation's new motto, "Changing Women's Lives", exemplifies the difference that Alpha Phis can make in the lives of thier Alpha Phi sisters and in their community.
