Overview
Below is an overview of the food you will have at Purdue, your housing, and the safety that is offered at Purdue University.
Food
All food is being provided by Purdue University’s Residence Hall Association. Meals will be provided Friday Dinner, Saturday Breakfast, Saturday Snacks, and Saturday Lunch. Vegetarian cuisine can be provided as requested (such will be noted upon registration).
Housing
It had previously been stated that a common facility would be secured for the IRHO delegates to sleep in. However, we are currently in the process of acquiring a better, more private situation in which delegates would have a common room in which they can meet and socialize, as well as dual rooms for sleeping. We hope to make all delegates as comfortable as possible, and believe that this will make the whole of the conference more enjoyable.
Safety
The Purdue University Police Department in West Lafayette, Indiana is a professional law enforcement department empowered by the University. State law grants Purdue police officers the same powers of arrest and law enforcement authority that city and county police officers have. Purdue officers protect and serve with a focus on meeting the special needs of the campus community numbering over 38,000 students and nearly 15,000 faculty and staff members. Guided by a community policing philosophy, the police department offers a variety of crime prevention and educational programs. While we understand no environment is free of crime, the Purdue University Police Department is committed to collaborating with our campus community to foster an environment conducive to learning, discovery, and engagement in support of the mission of Purdue University.
In addition to the Purdue Police, there is residential life staff on duty from 7:00 pm to 7:00 am in every building that can address problems or concerns.
