The recreational sailing part of this club is the absolute heart of the club. This is where we teach new sailors the joys of sailing and the old sailors new tricks to make them better. Rec sailing is where sailors go to either hone their skills or just hang out with friends. The club recsails every saturday or sunday of every weekend we can gather enough people that want to go.

"With rec sailing you can't go wrong. No matter how bad work or school treats you, you can always count on sailors and a good recreaction sail to brighten up the darkest day."

~Peter Maloney Purdue Sailor fall '03~

Along with rec sailing comes the learn to sail program. This is generally held once a week where we can teach the fundimentals of sailing to new or inexperienced sailors that are willing to learn. Many of us sailors can remember starting our sailing experience sitting in a classroom learning what a boom was or what the heck a jib sheet does. Many sailors have passed through our learn to sail programs in the past where the passion of sailing was planted in there hearts and the plan is to keep that tradtion alive.
