About UsAbout the Purdue Sailing Club: The Purdue Sailing Club is a club sport administered through the Division of Recreational Sports at Purdue University. We sail recreationally at our boathouse on Lake Shafer in Monticello, Indiana almost every weekend throughout the year except when the lake is frozen. The club also sponsors a racing team which competes in the Midwest district of the Inter-Collegiate Sailing Association. The club owns a variety of boats. Our recreational fleet consists primarily of Laser and Club 420 sailboats. Our racing fleet is primarily Flying Junior sailboats. Club meetings take place every Wednesday at 7:30PM in REC 112. During the meetings club business and instructional activities are discussed. Any person that is interested or curious is more than welcome to attend. No sailing experience is required to join the club. We offer a learn-to-sail program in the fall for new members. Club dues are $40 per semester. In September, new and returning members have the option of paying $65 for a one-year membership. All members are required to take and pass a swimming test administered by the Recreational Sports Center each year.
