Whether you are a student, faculty member, an informed citizen, or work in health we would like to invite you to participate in the 2009 Purdue Student Pugwash Midwest Regional Conference. It will be held Friday through Saturday, March 27-28, 2009 at Purdue University in West Lafayette, Indiana and is an opportunity few would want to miss.

This year's conference focuses on how modern medicine interfaces with and impacts our society and the world. In general, the conference will bring together people from different backgrounds to evaluate the current and future states of health with a goal to prepare our audience to make more informed decisions.

To do this, we have brought together accomplished speakers from some of the leading academic and health institutions in the country, including General Electric Healthcare, the University of Michigan, Doctors Without Borders, The Harvard School of Public Health, Cook Biotech, and the Indiana University School of Medicine. Each of the conference topics below has been chosen to engender a multi-layered understanding that incorporates each of the scientific, social, and ethical aspects of health care.

The conference has been set up to allow ample opportunities to meet and discuss with interesting attendees and speakers. You will have the opportunity for stimulating conversation at

 

our banquet Friday night, plenty of chances for questions with speakers, engaging discussion of topics during the break-out session discussion event, and the ability to blow of some steam and break with some wallyball at the conference social!
