Student Pugwash USA is the parent organization of Purdue Student Pugwash. SPUSA is an educational, nonprofit organization that strives to add a dimension to scientific study that goes beyond formulas and figures. Activities encourage young people to probe the reasons for scientific advancement and the implications of technology on citizens' everyday lives. The organization that started it all. The purpose of the Pugwash Conferences is to bring together, from around the world, influential scholars and public figures concerned with reducing the danger of armed conflict and seeking cooperative solutions for global problems. Meeting in private as individuals, rather than as representatives of governments or institutions, Pugwash participants exchange views and explore alternative approaches to arms control and tension reduction with a combination of candor, continuity, and flexibility seldom attained in official East- West and North- South discussions and negotiations. Do you read about science, technology, and society issues in the news and wish you could tell others about them? Are you interested in fostering debate on ethical science conundrums? Do you long to be a blogger, but don't have time to maintain a blog of your own? Visit Mindfull, SPUSA's blog!
