Trap shooting

Age Factor

Trapshooting is a shooting sport enjoyed by millions of people around the world. It involves shooting clay targets (referred to as "birds" or "pigeons") travelling at speeds of up to 90 mph with a shotgun. It is a very challenging sport that easy to learn, but very hard to master. Age really does not matter.

Trap Information

American Trapshooting in the United States is governed by the Amateur Trapshooting Association (ATA). International Trapshooting is governed by USA Shooting in the U.S., and they follow rules set by the UIT - the International Shooting Union. International Trap is also called Olympic Trap because it is sport shot in the Olympics! Both sports offer different challenges to the shooter. The basic difference between the two games is that the International discipline offers a larger challenge to the shooter than does the American sport. But, the American sport is more readily available to the everyday shooter, so that game usually is talked about more often in the United States.

Gun Selection

The choice of gun to shoot with is very much a personal preference of the shooter. The same goes for what kind of ammunition the shooter wants to use.
