Frequently Asked Questions
When does Purdue Running Club Meet?
The Purdue Running Club meets at 4:45 pm, Monday through Friday, in front of the east entrance of the Rec Center. It is never too hot, too cold, too rainy, or too snowy. No matter the weather we will be running!
How many miles do you run?
Runs vary every day but there is typically groups running 3 miles, 5-6 miles, and sometimes 7-10 miles. People run at every pace and will be happy to help you along if you are new to a route. Everyone is free to make suggestions on what to run for the day!.
I have never run before? Can I still join the club?
Of course! No prior running experience is necessary to join the club, and if you ask other members they will be more than happy to share training tips and give encouragement.
I cannot make the 4:45 run time due to a class. What should I do?
Many of our members have class conflicts. We fully understand this and training runs are NOT mandatory. A secondary meeting time of 8:00 am has been established (also in front of Shreve) for those who cannot come at 4:45. Also, if you wish to run at another time on these days, visit our Facebook page (Purdue Running Club), leave a message on the wall, and you will probably find someone to run with.
How often do you race?
Many members are interested in racing. Many participate in races around campus and around the state. For those looking for a team running atmosphere, we attend several cross-country style meets in the fall as well as several track meets in the spring. The National Intercollegiate Running Club Association (NIRCA) is our governing body for many of these races. For more information on NIRCA visit their website www.clubrunning.org.
