Letters From Alumni

Laura--

I just stumbled upon my name on the alumni list. I was on the SCC from about 1986 until 1990. Somewhere I have some backstage photos of our group. If I find them I will send them to you. I ran into Don Seybold over the summer by accident and it reminded me of my time on the Committee. Even though I spend most of time in Atlanta I come back to WL often for the FB games (http://purduesports.cstv.com/sports/m-footbl/spec-rel/pur-m-footbl-sports-network.html).

If there is ever an alumni get together please let me know. Perhaps you could do one over homecoming weekend?

Hi Laura,

yes, you read correctly.  Belinda and I were married in May of 1985, and have two kids - our oldest (dare we suggest) may be Purdue-bound in just 3 years (yikes!).

We both enjoyed looking at the page that lists the concerts through the years, but thought maybe something was missing from "our era", so we checked our old concert T-shirts (yes, we still have some) and Mortar Boards and such and had these additions for you.

The Tuesday September 7, 1982 concert was "Go Gos with A Flock Of Seagulls", not just the Go Gos.  The lead singer from the flock, Michael Score, had a haircut that stole the show.  I think they are still on some nostalgia tour somewhere even today, with songs like "I ran".

The other addition is the Friday February 25, 1983 Blue Oyster Cult show.

This was the only show I remember where there were people outside the hall of music the night of the show picketting and trying to persuade people not to go in and see the show (you know, some "fear the reaper" more than others).  The show was actually lots of fun, with props like a motorcycle on stage, Godzilla, and more.  By Purdue standards, it really was something different and quite entertaining.

Belinda and I exchanged emails with Don Seybold just the other day, and am glad to hear he is still kicking.  Some of the stories he has to tell - we're actually interested in seeing if he ever writes a book.

We wish you and the SCC the absolute best, and enjoyed finding our names listed, with the others, on your Alumni page.

Rock on,

Jim and Belinda (Berglund) Wright

Laura-

I randomly decided to "Google" myself and the first thing that came up was the SCC Alumni page.  It reminded me of all the great times I had working in the committee.  One of my only regrets in my time at Purdue was that I wish I had contributed more of my time to the group, and I really feel terrible about it.  I ran into Trina in Chicago a few weeks ago and we had a great time talking about how much fun we had in the committee.   It truly is a unique experience, one that most universities don't offer.  I hope you realize that you have one of the best jobs in the world and I'm jealous!!!!  Keep up the good work.  Go Boilers!!!

Sincerely,
