- The first line made me believe that she was an older woman due to the fact  it said she was suffering from heart trouble.

- I thought it must have been a sad message to relay to Mrs. Mallard.

- It says paralyzed with an inability to understand the significance, I thought what kind of inability, is something wrong with her mentally?

-  She would have no one follow her, I thought she seemed really upset she wouldn't even let her own sister.

- "Pressed down with exhaustion" that just shows how upset and hard she is taking this.

- When she went upstairs the window was open, usually windows that are open represent freedom.

- When she saw a man outside crying it made her even more sad and weepy.

- Says she sat down with her head thrown back motionless, at this point she is speechless and doesn't even know what to say.

- The text says that she was "young", so i guess my assumptions before hand were wrong.

- After much thinking she chants for freedom, i guess she has to be optimistic.

- She no longer had her husband on her brain, she is kind of being selfish at this point, the text reads " there would be no one to live for during those coming years she would live for herself".

- "She had loved him sometimes" with that said it makes u wonder what really went on with there marriage since there hasn't been any indication as to what has been going on in there relationship.

- The sister thinks that she is going to be sick being locked in the room all sad.

-  Spring days are bright, I think that is how Mrs. Mallard is viewing her days ahead.

- Walked around strutting herself acting like a queen, she obviously is over joyful.

- Surprise, she is to find that her husband is still alive, doesn't know how to act...Upset or just shocked, she faints.

*********** STEP # 3

- Dear Kate Chopin,

I was really impressed with the short story you wrote "A Story of an Hour", the one thing that really boggled my mind was that was Mrs. Mallard really upset that her husband was still alive or rather just shocked? The story left me on a cliffhanger and it has been bothering me ever since. It's just that when Mrs. Mallard fell down the stairs and had a heart attack i was just confused as to why? It's hard to see if she was really upset. One moment she was crying and hysterical and then the next thing you know she is jumping for joy. Its as though she was a completely different person. She didnt want to talk to anyone and then the next thing you know she is walking around like she is the creme of the crop. She did a complete 360 in the matter of moment and i just wanted to have some clarification on that. It's just that I really need some closure to the story and i was wondering if you could givbe me some help or insight about the story, since i will never know! P.s. I really enjoyed this short story!
