Limberlost Camp

More than the beautiful lake and
the surrounding grounds with woods
and mowed fields,

And the rustic, comfortable cabins,
dorms, and lodge.

More than the ample, deliciously
prepared food,

And the days of playing in the sun,
in the water, on the baseball field, football field,
or walking through the trees.

More than sailing, fishing, swimming,
shopping.

And the nights, staying up to talk,
and play games after the children have gone to sleep.

More than the laughter of children playing with
a freedom unavailable in a different place.

Limberlost camp is friendships made with people
you may only see once a year,
children you watch grow from
infant to adult and still they come to camp.

It's being together with your family
in a way that is special, free,
unencumbered.

It's the squeal of delight
when the kids first see the lake again
after being away for a whole year,

And saying goodbye when it's time to
leave again.

It's the two very dear friends
who made Limberlost Camp what it is.
What it was.
What it will continue to be in our hearts.

All of that, and more.
Memories.

Limberlost Camp is no more.
We will miss it.
We will move on.
We will remember.

With deep thanks to Mark and Myrna.
