2008

      -January Callout:
-Virtual Lecture with Brian Dunning from Skeptoid.com with a topic about Homeopathy.
-January 8th, 2008, 7 pm
-Psychology room 3187

Speaking of Dunning's podcasts, just this afternoon (January 7th) there was another article out that there's no link between vaccines and autism. Go to Dunning's podcast on July 15th, 2007 titled, "Mercury, Autism, and Chelation: A Recipe for Risk."

In December 2006, I checked to see if Interlibrary Loan had "Secrets of Psychics Revealed" and two particular other videos because I thought they’d be good to show. They didn't have them or the videos would be too difficult to wait to get from another library. I had watched it on TV in 2003 or so, and wished that I taped it. Tonight (January 9th), it’s on WNDY channel 23 from 9 to 10 pm.

First meeting of this week: -"Cdesignproponentsists, and Other Fictions."
-You read that correctly. It's the name of the meeting.
-January 22nd, 2008, 7 pm

DNA Stairs at The Hanze University Groningen

"DNA: Proof Evolution is Impossible"
-Guest Speaker Dr. Charles Jackson from "Points of Origins Ministries"
-Hosted by The Skeptics Society
-Saturday, January 26 at 2:00pm
-Where: Lilly Hall room G126
-Lilly is at the corner of State St. and Russell Dr.
-He'll be saying why he believes in Intelligent Design and/or Young Earth Creation.

Speaking of Intelligent Design or Young Earth Creationism, in 2005 there was the controversy in Dover, Delaware. Others issues with Intelligent Design were in the news often. At the time, The Skeptics Society wanted to have an Evolution vs. Intelligent Design debate at Purdue somewhat like the Austin Dacey vs William Lane Craig debate in 2004. It takes a lot of time and resources for a debate. That's a big reason why The Skeptics Society no longer has plans for that debate. Also, Ben Stein wants to have a movie for Intelligent Design out in about this February.

April 15th at 7 pm. This will be our final meeting of the semester. Do what you can to show up. We'll meet in the usual place (PSY 3187) and take care of elections and what not. After that we'll head over to the union to talk about this year and what we want to do differently next year and what we liked about this one.

Please do what you can to be there at least for elections!!! I realize everyone is busy. I myself have an exam that night at 8:30. Just do what you can to be there or at least email me any nominations for officers and any feedback you have about this past year.

Thanks!
    Brian
