Spring Break Trip - 2011

Steamboat Springs, Colorado

During spring break this year we'll be shreddin' the champaign pow of Steamboat Springs, Colorado. Steamboat is home to 25 lifts serving 142 trails.

Google maps shows this bus trip as a short and sweet 20 hours worth of non-stop fun. With the ability to take I-80 almost directly to the resort, our driving time should be much shorter than usual. This means no back road winding turns with an average speed of 20 mph. We should be cruising all the way out, so there's a good chance the overall trip time will be shorter than most of our trips. If you're not interested in the most gnarly bus ride of all time, then you might be out of luck. This closest major airport is probably Denver which is a solid 3 and a half our drive away. If you don't like flying and don't want to take the bus, let us know and we can try to hook up with some fellow members to car pool out there.

Be sure to sign up on the mailing list and friend us on Facebook (http://www.facebook.com/purdueskiclub) for all of the latest updates and information. Our office hours this semester are from 7-9PM on Wednesday and Thursday below Starbucks in the union (#B50F2) so be sure to stop by and ask any questions that you might have or hang out and drink some Rockstar.

Quick Mountain Facts:
  • 142 Trails
  • 13% Beginner Trails
  • 56% Intermediate Trails
  • 31% Advanced/Expert Trails
  • 3,668ft Vertial Drop
  • 36,195 skiiers/hour Uphill Capacity (lift capacity)
  • Average Snowfall - 337in.
  • 25 Lifts

  • March 13th - March 18th
  • Trip Cost: $435 (+$195 if you're riding the bus)

Winter Trip - 2010

Park City, Utah

During winter break this year we'll be shreddin' some pow in Park City, Utah. Home to the 2002 Winter Olympics, Park City boasts an absolutely phenominal resume with over 350in of snow every year, 16 lifts serving over 31,400 people per hour and more than 3300 skiable acres lined with 108 designated trails. The terrain is divided into 33% advanced/expert (black, double black), 50% intermediate (blue, blue-black/double blue), and 17% beginner (green). PC offers 4 terrain parks including an enourmous superpipe used in the 2002 Winter Olympics and King's Crown Superpark, one of the most touted parks in the country.

Google maps shows this bus trip as a short and sweet 24 hours however with stops and the like will probably be closer to 28-30. Despite being farther away than Jackson or most Colorado resorts, the entire trip will more than likely be a straight shot on I-80 all the way out to Utah. This means no back road winding turns with an average speed of 20 mph. We should be cruising all the way out, so there's a good chance the overall trip time will be shorter than most of our trips. If you're not interested in the most gnarly bus ride of all time, Salt Lake City airport is a short and sweet 45 minute drive from Park City with shuttles to take you to and fro. If you don't like flying and don't want to take the bus, let us know and we can try to hook up with some fellow members to car pool out there.

This is the first time in 10 years that PC has hosted college groups, so we'll do our fair share to show them what they've been missing out on. Don't forget to attend our pre-trip waxing/meet and greet "get together" and be sure to sign up on the mailing list and friend us on Facebook (http://www.facebook.com/purdueskiclub) for all of the latest updates and information. Our office hours this semester are from 7-9PM on Wednesday and Thursday below Starbucks in the union (#B50F2) so be sure to stop by and ask any questions that you might have or hang out and drink some Rockstar.

Spring Break - 2010

Jackson Hole, Wyoming

For our spring break trip this year, we will be shreddin' in Jackson Hole, Wyoming! Jackson Hole is nestled in the north-west area of Wyoming about 3 hours south of Yellowstone and home to BIG RED. Jackson is home to 2,500 acres of the most amazing terrain in America. Among those 2,500 acres of in-bound terrain are over 116 trails split between 3 levels of difficulty -- 10% beginner, 40% intermediate, and 50% advanced/expert. Jackson also has over 3,000 acres of the gnarliest backcountry terrain in the nation. If the 116 in-bound trails start to get boring, there's plenty backcountry to go around.
