Purdue Open: Closing Remark

2010-10-08 10:54:57

Greetings to you all badminton players! As we all know, on October 1st – 2nd, 2010, the Purdue Badminton Club hosted a badminton tournament, known as the 2010 Purdue Badminton Open. This event was attended by nearly one hundred badminton players from the Midwest region. Players from Indiana, Illinois, Iowa, Ohio, Missouri, and Wisconsin have participated in this tournament and made this event a huge success. To all winners, congratulations once again! Your amazing skills and abilities truly deserve admiration. You have provided motivation for all badminton players to train as hard as you have trained and to try to achieve what you have achieved. To all participants, we thank you once again for your participation. We hope that you enjoyed your visit to our Purdue campus, had a lot of fun, and hopefully, you can make this tournament one of the most memorable tournament you have ever been to. The tournament results, as well as the pictures, will be uploaded soon on our Purdue Badminton Club’s website: http://web.ics.purdue.edu/~smash/.

Let me take this opportunity to thank some of the corporations who have supported our event: Yonex® USA for providing merchandises for our tournament; Freckles Graphics, Inc. for printing our tournament shirts and embroidering our tournament towels; Awards Unlimited, Inc. for making the medals for our winners; and China 1 Buffet for the donation toward our club. To the management of Purdue University’s Recreational Sports Center (RSC) through the Assistant Club Sports Coordinators, Michelle S. Williams, for the support shown to our club and providing the venue and facilities for the event, we truly thank you. As the organizer of this event, I am truly honored to be able to work with some of the hardest working individuals I have ever met. Their dedications toward this event are truly remarkable. I would like to take this opportunity to also thank everyone who has been involved in the preparation process as well as the administration of this amazing event. All those who have contributed a lot of their time and energy, you have my deepest gratitude. In particular, these individuals truly deserve special recognition for their extraordinary contribution to make this event as successful as it was: the Tomac family – Mark & Hiroko – for your help in the process of getting all the Yonex® merchandises that we needed, stringing during the tournament, as well as in the preparation process in general; Bei Fei, for handling all the tournament’s treasury business; Chia-Chun (Tricia) Tsai, Pei-Fen Liu, and Wan-Ju Li, for your expertise in creating and running the tournament brackets; Jayne Piepenburg, for your contribution in the shirt printing and towel embroidery process; Vina Zerlina, for your amazing design ability; and last, but most certainly not least, those people who have helped us on the welcome table, the control table, and the merchandise table, for all your effort and contribution to make the tournament ran as smoothly as it was. Again, my deepest gratitude to all of you and to all those whom I cannot mention individually.

Lastly, we apologize for any inconvenience, confusion, or offense that might occurred during this event. If you have any critique or comments about how the tournament was organized and conducted, please feel free to reach me personally at my e-mail: chariant@purdue.edu. Congratulations once again for the winners and thank you to all participants! We look forward to meeting you all again soon.
