-The Creation of Kaladè
Besides Kaladè, I have written a lot of other stories, most that are historical fiction or contemporary (though I really don't like contemporary literature). Unfortunately, most college professors do not want to see fantasy, sci-fi, or historical fiction, as they say it requires too much back story. Yet they seem to approve of trash like my last creative writing class, in which to get the professor's approval, it had to be about sex, drugs, affairs, etc.
The first story, "A Language Neither Men or Sheep Understand," was written my sophomore year at Purdue for my Introduction to Creative Writing class. The story follows a vet by the name of Troy, as he makes a stop to a sheep farm to help an ewe with her birthing. This story is not for the weak of heart, as it does contain graphic imagery.
The second story, "A Bottle of Whiskey," is the most recent and was written my junior year for my Craft of Fiction Class. It is a historical fiction piece that takes place during the Battle of Fredrickburg (1862). The main character is Daniel 'Danny' MacKay, who is a field surgeon. During the surgery, he reflects on his childhood when he was infected with a mysterious disease (now known as Polio), and how it now affects his life.
