NAKAMA Restaurant: Menu

There are a few things you should know about the menu:

  •  Kimchi is a side dish served with many of our entrees. It is a spicy pickled cabage, very popular in Korea and other Asian countries.

  •  Our House Salad is served with Kimchi as a second side, and is like an American pasta salad but is tuna based instead of mayonnaise based.

  •  We do offer a Green Salad as an alternative to the Kimchi and House Salad. It is a lettuce based salad, with carrots and sometimes cucumbers, covered in a Japanese sesame seed dressing.

  •  Rice and noodles are the two most common items used in Japanese dishes.

  •  Japanese Hot Pots are large bowls of soup, with different items in them. They are made large enough to share with multiple people.

  • Yakiniku BBQ is a popular Japanese tradition. We provide charcoal grills in some of our tables, and then serve different types of raw meats and vegetables for you (the customer) to grill however you like it.

  •  Occasionally there are items listed on the menu that are not always available. One common occurrence of this is the Curry. This is a special dish that is only available when the owner decides to make it. It is delicious, so make sure to ask if we have it!

  •  If you are not a seafood fan please be aware of how common seafood, including eel, squid, and octopus are in the Japanese culture, and in our menu. We do offer dishes without seafood, and also offer vegetarian meals. If you are unsure of what something is, please ask.

Sushi hints:

  •  Sushi is seasoned rice with vinegar sauce. All dishes using this rice are considered Sushi dishes.

  •  Sashimi is sliced raw fish served with soy sauce and Japanese horseradish called wasabi.

  •   Not all sushi uses raw fish. Sashimi is a delicacy, even in Japan, because it requires high quality to be eaten without being cooked. We have many kinds of sushi that only use vegetables, cooked egg, fried tofu, or pickles. These kinds of sushi are more common on Japanese supper tables.

If you have any questions about the menu please feel free to call or come in and ask!
