General Course Description

ENGL 106 is a 4-credit freshman composition course required for entering undergrads at Purdue University. The most important goal of this course is to develop processes for writing in a variety of genres for various purposes. This course involves learning to write using a variety of media in order to prepare for writing in later university courses across the curriculum and also learning to utilize research tools to support it. Although this particular section will use literary texts (short stories, poems, novels, plays, films, etc.), this is not a literature course; it is a writing course and the writing assignments follow the general guidelines set by Introductory Composition at Purdue (ICaP).
