5) Always be courteous and polite to anyone who approaches you.

6) Avoid law enforcement situations that do not require EMS assistance.

Violation of any part of this Code of Conduct will result in immediate termination of the violator’s volunteer service work with the Stadium Rescue Squad and may be held against the violator in subsequent years.

MEMBERSHIP

Only Purdue University students and faculty are eligible for membership.

DRESS CODE

In order for an EMS organization to appear professional, its members must look professional; Stadium Rescue Squad members are to be dressed and groomed neatly. All members must have their hair up and out of the way. The following dress code will be enforced at all games:

Shirt / Jacket- The Stadium Rescue Squad uniform shirt, red Squad T-shirt, or red Squad jacket is required. Uniforms from other EMS or Fire Departments are prohibited. Any shirt that advocates alcohol, music groups, or the like is prohibited. Dress appropriately with layered sweaters for cold weather, especially Squad members who will have little opportunity for movement. The jacket is optional if a red Rescue Squad shirt is worn.

Pants- Black or blue pants are required for all members. No blue jeans. Shorts are prohibited, as they compromise your safety in risking exposure to body fluids. Dress appropriately for cold weather.

Shoes- Black work boots are preferred. Open-toed shoes are prohibited as they compromise your safety in risking exposure to body fluids. Dress appropriately for cold weather.

Jewelry - Dangling jewelry, such as necklaces and hoop earrings, are prohibited as they compromise your safety.

ATTENDANCE POLICY

If for any reason you are unable to work your scheduled assignment, call or e-mail the V.P. of Personnel. Only those members with an excused absence will be permitted to continue working for Stadium Rescue Squad. An absence will be excused based on its merits. Examples of absences that will not be excused include, but are not limited to:

1) Completing homework assignments, reports, essays, library work, and so forth. Plan your time accordingly.

2) Studying for exams or quizzes. Plan your time accordingly.

3) Attending fraternity, sorority, student organizations or civic functions that require your presence. Inform the function’s director that your attendance is required with the Stadium Rescue Squad.

4) Accidentally overslept or incapacitated to attend because of partying the night before.

5) If you are on stand-by all the above policies apply.

ARRIVAL AT THE STADIUM

All Stadium Rescue Squad members will report to the gate specified at the beginning of the year by the V.P. of Personnel.

The V.P. of Personnel will also determine the time to report before the game as he or she sees fit.

ON-SCENE PROTOCOL

When members of the Stadium Rescue Squad are sent by Control to the scene of an emergency, the following procedure will be followed:

1) First arriving members will assess the situation, and then give a brief report to Control.

2) One of the first arriving members will become radio liaison.

3) Do not respond to any situation unless Control sends you. This means do not wander over to another section where there is an emergency situation just to see if you are needed. If someone walks up to you and advises you of an emergency, respond if it is in your area, but advise Control so they know where you are going and can send additional units if needed.  This includes the Rover Squads.

RADIO USAGE

1) Keep radio traffic to a minimum.

2) Never give out names over the radio.

3) If you are sent to an emergency situation, advise Control that you are clear. Ex. “Squad 20 responding.” When you arrive, advise Control. Ex. “Squad 20, on scene.”

4) Do not ever contact another Squad directly, if for some reason you need to contact another Squad, Rover, etc. go through Control. All radio traffic must go through Control.

RESPONSE EQUIPMENT

Response equipment will be provided for the event through the Stadium Rescue Squad unless otherwise indicated by the officers or the advisor.  Other items should not be supplied or brought to an event. Specific examples include things like drugs, medications, splints, and oxygen delivery systems. These items are beyond our scope of practice, and we have no physician supplied protocols for them.

Members may bring own stethoscopes, scissors or other basic tools. If you have questions about this policy please contact the officers or the advisor.

Let's work together to make this a great year!!
