Spring Break Mission Trip Boiler
Challenge 2008
Twenty-eight Purdue students and staff traveled
to Port Charlotte, Florida and worked on three
homes with Habitat for Humanity. Everyone had a
great time building homes that will go to needy
families and make possible the dream that would
otherwise not be possible--owning their own a
decent, safe, affordable home.
Students also helped put on a street party and a
Village Idol Show for terminally ill children at
Give Kids The World Village. Teams of students
led devotions in the evening, where we all had a
chance to share how our lives were touched and
transformed by our work and the kindness and
faith of those around us. We also enjoyed the
sunny beaches, local hospitality, and an
exhilarating airboat ride in the Florida
Everglades. Many students said it was the best
spring break they had ever had. We also had a
special opportunity to share in the baptism of
Corinna in a beautiful beach ceremony in the
Gulf of Mexico (below). We all came back feeling
we had touched people's lives in a lasting,
positive way and grew in our friendship with
each other and our faith in God.

Last year students,
faculty and staff headed to New Orleans to work
on homes for the needy -- we had an awesome
time!

This spring break we are again headed to
hurricane devastated Florida to work on building homes for the needy
with Habitat for Humanity.
Keep us in
your prayers!

U-Church
Helps With Horse Camp
U-Church
people teamed with volunteers from Lafayette Urban
Ministry to put on a half day horse camp at Billy
Reeves Stables. Children learned about horses
as well as how to handle and ride horses
safely. Everyone had a great time.
Special thanks to George and Lina Kerner for
donating their time and horse farm to the kids camp.
