CS 291 - Sophomore Development Seminar, Fall 2008

Course Time/Location: Mondays 3:30pm in LWSN B151

Course Objectives:

To prepare undergraduate students for the challenge of pursuing professional opportunities.
To present corporate representatives and undergraduates recently completing professional experiences students and introduce students to the variety of fields in which computer science graduates seek careers.
To present faculty that will introduce the areas within computer science and describe opportunities for students interested in undergraduate research.

Final Resume (due September 15th, upload to Blackboard)
Resume Reviews (due September 15th, bring to class)
Attending a professional talk/seminar (due December 1st, upload to Blackboard)

Grading:

All assignments must meet the expectations of the instructors. Assignments that do not meet expectations will be returned to be re-submitted OR will be declared incomplete if the initial effort is deemed poor. Late work is not accepted.
Attendance and participation in course activities are required. One absence is permitted, the course meets on 13 Mondays during the semester, missing more than one meeting is unacceptable.
- Most of the meetings this semester will feature special guests and your attention and respect are expected. Arriving late to class or leaving early will count as an absence. Your laptop and homework are not acceptable activities during lecture.

The last day to drop CS 291 is October 29, 2008. See you advisor for more information regarding withdrawing from any course.
