We picked up with 6 ladies from North Park University in Chicago: Kelly,
Kierra, Lindsay, Ana, Annie, and Kristin
PurPark/NorDue!
These ladies were all pretty easygoing and after the first game we had
already figured out how to work with each other and knew each other's
strengths and weaknesses. They were also really fun to have picked up with
and a great addition to our team.
Game 1 vs Hendrix, W 11-2
This was a great warm up game for the day. Aside from getting to know the NP
ladies, we had a chance to remember how to throw in 20-25 mph winds. We also
named our combined team Nordue Purpark for the weekend. We had some great
support from the NP men as well.
Game 2 vs Grinnell, W 10-6
This game was a little tougher but all and all we stayed playing strong to
keep our placing of second in the C pool.
Game 3 vs Marquette, W 9-7
We pulled through this close game to take the first seat in the C pool. This
team had stronger handlers and more energy so we had to work harder to pull
through. the wind also picked up during this game and it became a game of
trading downwind points.
Crossover vs Iowa, W 9-8
Some of you may remember Kelly Parsons who had a short stint with purdue
ultimate.. but we got a chance to play against her in this game. The iowa
women were very competitive, but the wind had definitely picked up to around
35 mph and the game was spent trading points again. All in all we finished
the day strong and proved that we were the team to beat between the B and C
pools.
Sunday Brackett play:
Game 1 vs Eau Claire, L 5-13
The wind was gusting up to 40 mph and it was really tough to throw. The Eau
Claire women came out intense and ready to play and it showed. They played a
great game and scored lots of upwinders to win the game. This took us out
of the championship bracket and we entered the 5th place bracket.
Game 2 vs St. Louis University, L 6-7
We lost this game simply because we lost the toss. it was so windy that
neither team really got very close to scoring an upwind point. This means we
took somewhere between 7th and 10th place in the tournament (I didn't stay
to get the point differentials). In the end everyone was happy with the way
we played, especially for having joined up with a team of ladies we had
never played with before. We definitely have some rust to work out before
our next tournament but this was a great way to start the season. well done
ladies!
