Art and design have always been in my life. Ever since I was growing up there was always something to scribble on. Art was always my way of dealing with things so it played a big part in my childhood. As I got older my art interests varied and during 8th grade I dabbled in graphic design. Throughout high school I had an amazing art teacher who pushed me to follow my passion and attempt to do it professionally. Over summer, in between my sophomore and junior year I sat down and taught myself Photoshop and a bit of Illustrator.

Going into my junior year I was confronted by a faculty member and was given a great opportunity. They wanted me to design all the advertisements and graphics they would need for the remainder of the time I was there. I said yes, of course, and they even created a class for me to facilitate this. The experience gave me great insight into dealing with clients and deadlines, as well as working on technical skills. Plus it was great to see something I created in newspapers, flyers, postcards, and anything else during that time.

At this point in my life I was set in my decision to go into graphic design. I chose Purdue University not only for the art program but for a well rounded education from a respected university. I am currently going into my junior year and excited to see what happens. Outside of school I am doing freelance graphic design and web design for a great group of clients.
