NEW students InFORMATION
Welcome to the ESL/SLS program.
The ESL GO has put together some information and collected some links that (we hope) will make your adaptation process at Purdue smoother.
General Information for new students in the ESL/SLS program at Purdue
-
Eating at work:
- There are plenty of “inexpensive” fast options for fast, and/or processed food on campus in PMU, and there are more options within walking distance South of HEAV towards State street if you have a bit more time; however, the least expensive and most healthy option is bringing your own lunch. There is a fridge in the room before you get to Judy Ware’s office. You can keep your food there.
- There is a kitchen on the 4th floor in HEAV. There is a sink, stove and a microwave you can use. You can also do your dishes there.
- There are vending machines in the basement selling different kinds of beverages and expensive junk food. There are two coke machines on the 3rd floor.
Correspondence:
- You can send mail by leaving it in Jennifer’s outgoing mail box in the English office, but you must provide your own postage, which must be purchased elsewhere PMU is the closest option for buying stamps and other snail mail needs.
- There are no phones in the TA offices of HEAV.
- The wireless in HEAV has improved in the last years. Even so, the wireless access is sporadically unavailable, but most of the times it is realiable.
