"The Suffering Sibling"

ANDREW GRIMM

Chained, barred, shackled within
My sister in death, hell without end
Screams are for freedom, whispers for sin
Peace becomes discord, sadness a friend

Rhyme and reason, gone from my heart
Despair and decadence, echoed by thought
Slipping to sleep, the shadows shape art
The womb of retreat, often unsought

Life-long companions, sibling descent
Within held her brother, slave to regret
Pacing and pouting, forced to lament
Withhold all her secrets and never forget

I've seen her by day, her heart's hollowed mark
I recall all her ways, the song of a lark
