Our Purpose

In the Spring of 2007, Friends of Words on the Go was created through a service learning project for English 306 students. The reason the class decided to create a student organization was to get the Purdue community more involved in the Words on the Go program that operates throughout seveal counties in north central Indiana. This Fall is our first semeser in operation as an "offical" student organization.

Our main goal is help Words on the Go get more submission for their program. We want to accomplish this through different on and off campus events, fundraisers, poetry readings, etc. We also want to try and get others in the greater West-Lafayette community involved in this project.

Words on the Go is about creating a sense of community through poetry and public transportation. The idea is to beautify a place that is inherently unbeautiful. WOTG also promotes a "green" lifestyle and attempts to raise awarness about our environment. Overall, both organizations want to make north central Indiana a better, more beautiful place to live.
