About the Mirage Bellydancers

Mirage Bellydancers has been entertaining Purdue since 2004. The club is composed of about 40 active members each semester, both undergraduate and graduate students of Purdue. It is advised by Prof. Carol Handwerker, of the College of Engineering.

The Mirage Bellydancers is both an instructional and performance group. Purdue students can join the club by attending the Beginners' session, which takes place over one semester. During this period beginners are introduced to basics of Cabaret and Tribal styles. After completing the first semester, they can take advanced classes.

Mirage also hosts bellydance workshops that cater to belly dancers at all levels. At the end of every semester, Mirage puts on a show, which features the club's dancers, as well as other belly dancers from the area.
