The RGB3 Hue and Tone Chart consists of the 216 colors of the 'web color lookup table'.

The RGB3 Hue and Tone Chart is visually organized according to the following perceptual organizations:

  1. RGB color families are grouped together (i.e. Red (red), Yellow-Red (YR), etc.)
  2. Tints and shades are perceptually mapped.
  3. The overall intensity of a color is easily discriminated (Bright, Subdued and Dull).
  4. Blending structures are identified (i.e. red to yellow, light to dark, etc.)

The figure above shows the relationship between the color cube and the 'RGB3 Hue and Tone Chart':

  1. Bright Family: High intensity colors located in
the outer layer of the RGB color cube.
  2. Pale Family: Less intense colors located in
the middle layer of the RGB color cube.
  3. Dull Family: Low intensity colors located in the
inner layer of the RGB color cube.
