Big Changes for Purdue Quidditch!

By PIQA - March 1, 2011

A lot has gone on in the club since our last update! Not only have we had a change in leadership, but many memorable events have occured (for example, traveling to NYC for the World Cup and winning our Midwest Tournament!), and we have a lot of exciting things planned for the team.

Spring Tournament with BSQL

Our big event for the spring is a co-hosting gig with our friends at Ball State Quidditch League. This tournament will take place on April 9th, at Ball State. Many teams have already RSVP'd, such as Illinois State, Webster Quidditch, Miami of Ohio, and more. If you are a Quidditch team from a school that hasn't already been contacted by us and would like to attend, please e-mail bsuquidditch@gmail.com!

Midwest Tournament!

Once again, Purdue Quidditch is teaming up with Ball State Quidditch League to give you a tourament like you've never experienced before. We will be cohosting the IQA Midwest Regionals. This tournament will be a two-day affair, held on October 8th and 9th. We have a lot of exciting things in store for this event - there are even rumors of a Hogwarts Express! Keep checking our website for more details as the event draws closer.

Purdue Quidditch Invitational

By PIQA - October 18, 2010

Purdue University's Vawter Field will turn into the playing fields of Harry Potter's Hogwarts School on Sunday, October 24, as "Muggle Quidditch" invades Purdue's college campus with a real-life Quidditch Tournament.

Players will chase human snitches and launch balls through custom-made hoops, all while dashing around the field on broomsticks. Interested spectators of all ages will be welcomed to watch and enjoy a day of magical bliss.

The occasion of the event is to be the major gathering point of many colleges from the Midwest to play Quidditch in support of the International Quidditch Association, the world's first non-profit organization to promote the earthbound version of the sport, invented by J.K. Rowling in her Harry Potter novels, whose mission is improving youth athletic participation, community interaction, and literacy education.

Members of the public and attending Purdue students will meet delegates or full teams from 8 colleges throughout the Midwest including: Ball State, Bowling Green State University, Illinois State, Loyola University, Transylvania University, and watch several intercollegiate games.

The intercollegiate tournament will take place at Purdue University's Vawter Field at Martin Jischke and 3rd street in West Lafayette. Matches will begin at 10:30 a.m. and will go until 6:00 p.m.

2009-2010 Recap and Future Events

By PIQA - June 20, 2010

PIQA raised $200 from our Quidditch for Literacy event with the Mighty Peaches beating out the Butter Beers for the championship! We still have extra shirts from the event available to support the charities!

Our organization has been restructured to better organize ourselves. We would like to welcome our newest officers: Jerica Barlow, Melissa Britt, Rachael Fulper, Greta Jakstonyte, Chris Majors, and Ashley Souerbry! Also, welcome back to our returning officers. Let's get ready for a new season!

Just a heads-up: Purdue University has granted us the use of lockers and a mail box. These resources will be important to more easily storing our playing equipment and keeping track of our documents.

We will soon have a place for other Quidditch teams and schools around the nation to challenge our team! Please check back at a later time for more details and a link.

Lastly, we are all excited for the upcoming season. Many events and more updates will be posted later, so keep checking! Thanks for visiting!
