Global Sustainability: Sacking Poverty Barriers through Innovation

Purdue Student Pugwash proudly presents the tenth annual Midwest Regional Conference held on April 10th and April 11th, 2015. The location of the conference will be held at Stewart Center. This year’s conference is titled Global Sustainability: Sacking Poverty Barriers through Innovation. The conference will focus on the social and ethical dimensions relating to current issues that ultimately allude to global sustainability. Conference topics will include Bioenergy and Food Process Engineering, Securing Infectious Diseases (Ebola), Direct Catalytic Conversation of Biomass to Bio fuels, and more. These topics will be presented by experts in their respective fields. The conference will also feature two keynote speakers. The first keynote speaker is Dr. Don Huber, an Emeritus Professor of Plant Pathology at Purdue University. Dr. Huber is also an internationally recognized plant pathologist and one of the leading GMO experts in the world. The second keynote speaker is Dr. Peter Littlewood, who is the current Director of Argonne National Laboratory, which is one of the nation's largest science and engineering research centers. Dr. Littlewood is also a Professor of Physics in the James Frank Institute at the University of Chicago and an internationally respected scientist who holds six patents.
